It is possible for campaign builders to add new maps. The new Dgen needs files with the coordinates of airfields, towns and bridges. I have already created such files for the Solomon maps for my next campaign project. It's not very complicated, but a lot of work, especially on larger maps with many towns.
I think Asura will post a detailed explanation how to use the new features when the final version of the new DGen is finished.

That's fantastic news, thank you. I'll be more than happy to fly some DGen campaigns in the Solomons.

Any projected ETA on a final (or at least a Beta)?

Did they ever look into why some missions types, in the Pacific DGen, least ways, never generated?

It is still in the alpha stage. The European part of the new DGen is already working and at the moment the PTO part is added. When that is finished, there will be an in-depth testing of the Pacific part.

Someone please make Bessarabia map available for DGen campaigns. Of all the in-game European maps, that's the one I miss most, because of the area's historical importance.
