Man, I can't find this answer anywhere... 4 auto part stores didn't know, and no luck with google...

anyone know what grade of clutch fluid is used on a 2000 Jeep Wrangler (manual transmission of course)... I was told 3, but stores only have 4 and 5... and told you can't use those for 3 grade?

anyone?

thx

you can use dot 4 in a dot 3 system but not the other way around.

the only difference is the boiling point

i work in a shop that services mazdas and VW, the VW gets 4 and the mazdas get 3 but we have been putting 4 in everything for 10+ years with no problems

I'm showing DOT 3 fluid. If in doubt feel free to use DOT 4 as it is compatible with DOT 3.

Do *NOT* under any circumstances use DOT 5 as DOT 5 is a whole different compound!

(In case you don't already know brake fluid is the same thing as hydraulic clutch fluid - "plain jane" DOT 3 brake fluid is what you need)

As above , but as an aside, surely one of the Jeep dealers over there would have the info Magnum? clearly don't ask the Service department, ask one of the mechanics or the foreman.

dunno specifically about the Jeep but every hydraulic clutch I ever saw used ordinary brake fluid.

You should be able to use blinker fluid as well biggrin

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

I miss my Wrangler but it was good for when I had it. Young, single, loved the outdoors. But taking more than one person with me camping (without a trailer or rocket box) was a challenge, to say the least.

I do miss that turning radius. I invented the name Cleftbrick off that car, because that is what they look like. Rock magnets going over the passes around here, for sure. Windshield always had dings/cracks. Radiator took a rock and it punctured a vein, leaking fluid all over my driveway. Plus, it was an '89, so it was fraught with electrical issues.

I sure did have a lot of fun with that thing, though.

Had my '97 TJ Sport 4.0L since '05 and still love it! Round headlights rule!

Half doors (they don't make anymore), and only a soft top. Luckily the heater kicks butt in the winter. smile Only thing I wish was that it was a manual tranny. Had to buy an automatic so the wife could drive it if her car broke. I know...teach her to drive a stick. I tried! Had a Ford Probe GT and she nearly trashed the tranny when I tried to teach her. wink

I'll be hitting this on 8 October.

Meet up at o'dark thirty and join 350+ Jeeps on a 20 mile "parade" to a farm/woods where we go off roading for most of the day. Meet back up at the dealership for the rest of the day to enjoy the company of many Jeepers. biggrin Only got stuck once last year, and it's the only time I've ever been stuck in my Jeep.
