The aircraft ID thread has presented a chance to post pictures of odd aircraft, here is an opportunity for all to post photos/artwork of beautiful aircraft. Beautiful is however you define it; sexy, graceful, masculine or beauty that only a mother/designer would appreciate. It can be the beauty of the aircraft itself, or the setting the aircraft is pictured in. Anything so long as it represents aviation related beauty to you. I'll start with what I think are some of the most beautiful aircraft ever designed. XB-70 F-4 P-38 F-86

Now this is a great thread, Dogsbd. This may be the thread of the year. I'll have to dig through my pictures. Cheers! Rick...

Not to rain on your guys' parade, but aren't the rules here pretty stringent about posting copyrighted photographs?

Not to rain on your guys' parade, but aren't the rules here pretty stringent about posting copyrighted photographs? Yes, and I changed one of mine to a link (I thought it was from a government site at first, which is generally OK, but realized it wasn't). The other shot I posted is mine, so that's OK.

A lot of good 'uns posted so far For me, there is only one, at the very top, and then there are the rest one small notch below.. The Supermarine Spitfire, the finest man-made machine ever. Every time I see one I get chills down my spine. The Constellation isn't half bad either And, seeing as how I fly this one myself, I have to include the wonderful Tiger Moth, in which I am having so much fun!

Piper - good choice, the Stearman is wonderful! Incidentally, I know a guy who owns one, I WILL fly it at some point Another biplane..the Waco YMF. I not only want one, I covet one with my entire heart. What a beautifully designed and finished airplane!

Yep, it is stunningly beautiful. Not just in the way it looks, but the way it embodies a whole style of aerial transportation. Wind in your hair, gentle aerobatics, a huge grin on your face! Just like when I fly the Tiger Moth, only with a 300hp radial engine and with vastly better looks!

Most of my favourites have already been posted, but I'll submit another one for the ugly beautiful category. The Fokker D.XXI Semmern, that Waco is absolutely beautiful! Jaz

Not too pretty, but my uncle earned the Distinguished Flying Cross during one mission flying it. Unfortunately, he earned the Purple Heart on the same mission. RIP.

Much, much more beautiful than the DC-10/MD-11 in my opinion:

Yea, what is it about tri-jets? The 727 has always just looked "right" to me.

I always thought the B-57/Canberra had perfect proportions for an aircraft:

I always felt the Tomcat looked tough and big, like, if it ran out of missiles and bullets it could ram you out of the sky and still recover at the carrier. More like the Linebacker of the Sky.

Yep. And with the Tomcat in full spread like that, looking through the canopy at the pilots for scale makes it seem like there are acres of aircraft up there in all that meanness.
