hey guys, first time poster here. I play a lot of sims and have recently started to build scale models like i did as a child (with more patience and care this time wink ). I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on this as a starter airbrush kit

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270818898352?s...#ht_2477wt_1396 .

I have been using brushes up till now but i want to advance towards more refined techniques. Is the compressor any good is the main question? The airbrushes i can replace with better ones at a later date if need be but the compressor i would like to have some longevity. If not, any reasonably priced alternatives?

many thanks,

tek

I think thats the same stuff on this website:
http://www.airbrush-pro.co.uk/

Which I have two airbrushes from them, I have the AS186 compressor, and it does a great job as far as I am concerned !
but it looks like that one in the link you posted is just a compressor with no air tank.. so it will be running all the time you are using it, though for that money to have a compressor and two airbrushes isnt bad !

On my link above you will see the different types of stuff on there, and to be honest some of the £25 and £30 stuff on there is far superior to a £70 one I had with Revell written on it !

Thats the same compressor I got after years of thinking about it. It does have a tank and works really well. Nice and quiet and you can adjust the pressure setting with the dial on the side. has a moisture trap too. The two airbrushes work just fine though to be honest I only used one of them (tried the second but had no real use for it). Lot of chaps on the RC tank forum Im on got the same and the opinion seems universally positive. Good investment for me.

This book has been highly recommended to me. I don't have it (yet, I think I'm about to buy it), so can't comment personally, but I've seen photos of models made by the guy who recommended it to me, and they are very good!

Did you get anywhere with this ? Only I was looking at my compressor today, and I was clearly talking rubbish about the one you linked to. Mine does have a tank, its the great big black tank like thing on the bottom, unlike the ebay version you posted. Hope I havnt sent you down the wrong path with this.
