well SimHQ has had a TS server for years, 4 of us were on it last night... the one above that complains were not tactical enough here, wasn't...go figure. lol I would say... why would you play on a tactical based server without comms.

Was in for just a bit and had a good time with you all, Next time I'll jump on to your TS server.

BTW, sorry about the accidental team kill Magnum, get a little trigger happy when you know the enemy is about.

Cheers

For today, i did remove the 4 fire fight maps... not because of DD opinion, I think they should be on the server... but I want to test and play the other 2 modes and each of them have 10 maps compared to the 4 fire fight ones... after the weekend I'll put them all back on for voting.

Maybe put on the server welcome screen a suggestion for new players to go get comms/TS info from here?

A lot of people browse for tactical servers by ping, so any new people in the Tampa area that wonder in could find that helpful - plus the game is so much better when you get a squad on teamspeak..

Played for a bit as a squad leader on local 64 player server (<20ms ping in Seattle helps, as I couldn't be much further in North America from the SimHQ server lol) and it gives the game a different dimension.

The use of orders, artillery call-in via binoculars and (essentially) smoke grenades really help a 64 player game. Getting people in the various roles to do things like MG suppression fire and properly coordinated flanking is something that's needed to win a round on a server where people have played a lot of RO1 before. There are less lone-wolf's than BC2 as the new players that really only enjoy something light/fun are getting tired already of dying all the time (not a criticism is just with the graphics people might think this is a lighter style FPS when it's definately not).

Having a commander that knows what they are doing helps too, at the very least to reinforce at the right time..

I'm still loving it, although I'll concede it's definitely an acquired taste..

Great games tonight BTW, alot of good stuff in this game, along with some issues.

My bad. I was under the impression that the game had VOIP! Little did I know that it didn't work. It'll be sweet when they do get it working though ... three channels for public, team and squad!

Magnum, if you want to use teamspeak, you might want to set up allied and axis channels under RO2. There's just the one Red Orchestra 2 channel right now.

Hi Magnum,

Does the server s/w disallow that silly recon plane buzzing overhead? I'm not pleased with knowing so easily where the opposition lerks.

I'm enjoying the game very much and also enjoy team tactics so I'll try the SimHQ server. I've played RO1/DH for 4 years and expect good returns on this title.

Not very and I haven't even been able to find it in the browser for the last couple of days. I don't think it's even up.

Seems empty most nights.

How would you guys like to get together sometime this weekend to play? I see a few people stopping in for ten minutes or so at a time throughout the week, but it'd be nice if we could get a big group with some serious teamplay going - maybe even lock down the server for a few hours.

Maybe Sunday afternoon, east coast time? That should allow our European friends to participate too.
