So Fathers day. Scored the nine eagles spit, foamie.First rc plane i have ever played with , seems an ok little jobbie.

Before i even thought of going airborne i trundled it around on a smooth large carpark to get a feel for it and sus out the controls. Now no matter where i set the rudder it always pulls to the left and is very hard to get it to go right, i imagine this is the engine torque? well as much as this small thing has anyway.

If i rudder it left i can do fairly tight circles but right are big slow ones and the moment i centre the stick she starts pulling slightly left again.

Using advanced on the controls i should be able to dial in some opposite rudder to counter that but to no avail. Is there any adjustment i can do manually to the control wires? Looks fairly simple to pull apart as it is only the decals and see through tape holding the fuselage together.

Also , should i can the wheels? The park i go too has no smooth surface to take off from and i was just going to hand launch it anyway.

My character somehow got all twisted up. I was playing the mission where you have to infiltrate the Golden Glow Estate and do multiple things. When I was out burning beehives and fighting I just eventually ran away to view my success from a distance. I first noticed it when I squated down on a tree trunk. Coot..the squatter../simHQ/2011

Cheers Ajay, been a while huh? smile
There's a bend in the push-pull wires you can adjust. See the curved part? just bend that in or out till the rudder is straight. Take it apart with a few drops of lighter fluid along the seams (no joke:) & put it back together with a couple drops of foam safe ca glue. Hope that fixes it..

Hey Airdog smile I'm guessing you mean this part.

Thing is the rudder is straight , that does not seem to be the problem , i am thinking i need it to be a little bit opposite rudder to the way it is turning for it to be able to fly straight with the stick centered. It constantly needs a lot of right rudder to stop it going left atm.

I do not really want to get airborne yet until i have it sussed or is that standard for the model, pulling to the left ?

I notice when i set the controls from beginner to advanced you get a lot more rudder, elevator, aileron movement too but this did not solve the pulling to the left action obviously. I will give her a little tweak and see how she goes.

cheers smile

So you are taxiing and it spins in a circle to the left? this is rather normal for tail draggers you need to get it tail up to get any real control from rudder, full right rudder and a little down to lift the tail and gradually ease the rudder deflection should get you going, it takes some finesse. On the other hand you can try hand launching, full power and a gentle toss upwards, you might try this over a field with tall grass to give you a cushion if you fail to get airborne. Make sure that you plane balances along the first third of the wing (usually about the same location as the landing gear attachment) on a spitfire you should be able to balance right at the apex of the wingtip, a little nose down is okay, tail down it will be difficult to fly. Good Luck
BTW I just watched video on this plane, very small! so hand launch is probably easier till you get proficient

That was my plan Bong , hand launch it as i have already removed the wheels anyway, , i don't think i will be worry about three point landings for a while yet lol.I will check how good her balance is too, cheers.

And yes she is small, i would have preferred something a bit larger and maybe not so twitchy for my noobness in the rc plane world. see how i go.

Well Well Well ... Ya Wanker!!

Leith, I got ya PM just havent had time to respond.
You lurk everywhere dont ya?

This is one area I can help ya out, been flyin RC for 20 years ... Geeze, I might even teach you how to fly a plane yet.
I have a P51 1400mm W/Span now, and an AM6 Zero (similar size) coming in the next 2 weeks.

I also have a program you can put on your PC and connect your Transmiter, which will enable you to practice crashing like you always do.

You are correct, the smaller size plane for a newbie is difficult as their response is much quicker and for the inexperienced can be frustrating with the tendency to give up and put in the 'too hard basket'.
Dont give up mate ...
It's far more immersive than any flight sim will provide.

Can help you with many things if you wish.

Cheers

The ground handling and general slewing is usually in opposite direction to the prop spin direction, which may mean it is torque related.
