The weather update looks nice.

Anybody have any rumors, ideas or something about a planned release date? Are we talking soon or in 12 month or?

can't see any of the content. Course, don't feel I should have to install silverlight to do so...

Hopefully along the way we will find out if they actually plan to make it a sim or simlite... from the screenies it doesn't look an evolution ahead of FSX+ORBX+REX to me, will keep an interest in it at least.

It would be fairly amusing if Flight! turns out to be the Duke Nukem Forever among flight sims.

I'd be amused only if X-plane 10 is as awesome as promised (fingers crossed), and we don't need flight.

Well, so far all I've seen from Flight is Hawaii and GA aircraft, so that scenario could very well become reality for me.

Not bashing "Flight", as who knows what it will be like?

But it looks, from the stuff that's been previewed, that it may be like "FSX with addons". Kind of the same way the original FSX looked like FS9 with addons.

I think the big thing will be if it's backward compatible with FXS, and/or, how easy/profitable will it be for the 3rd party developers to, well, develop.

Waiting and seeing, of course, but MS will have their work cut out for them to top FSX with REX, Orbx, A2A, Shade, Carenado, Baytower, etc., etc.

But, who knows?

As much as I hate X-Plane, with Flight looking like a casual game, I'm becoming more inclined to check out the next X-Plane release.

It would take a quite a bit for Flight to remove Cliffs of Dover from that particular throne . . .

I think they've been trying to make it about the scenery at this point, so some VFR GA action makes for better previews. Also, given how much work modeling the entire planet is, it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of FSX scenery is rehashed.

What I really care about is a brand new, multi-core/modern GPU biased software engine being under the hood.

Frankly, if that means leaving FSX add-ons behind, so be it. I have a feeling it's going to be very tough to let us have that cake and eat it too. It'll take time for developers to make the leap, but they'll get there. I think all parties will be better off if Flight has both feet planed in the future, rather than leaving one in the past.

Plus, if you want your FSX addons, you can always boot up FSX wink

yeah it looks pritty good but Microsofts ne startergy worries me i have seen that on AOE online you get 2 factions you wan't a new one you got to pay same is true for a few of the more powerfull unit's now i don't mind paying for new aircraft but if we gettwo aircraft and on regon in the base of Flight like thay have done with AOe i may have to go over to X plain 10

The latest Nov update screenshots are finally look pretty impressive and better than FSX with Orbx and REX which I normally fly:
http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/

Hopefully this is the new standard scenery worldwide in Flight and not just in the limited Hawaii scenery area they use for previews like they did with FSX and specific better modeled areas.

Wow. So is all of Flight going to be one little island of Hawaii? While the shots are gorgeous, I'm not so sure that they are much better than what you mentioned (FSX + ORBX).

Thanks for sharing.. smile

I just looked at the latest updates (last two), and I AM impressed with the visuals. On par with Orbx, maybe a bit better. How it will run on today's machines (and yesterday's) will be interesting.

As far as it only being Hawaii, I could personally live with that, for awhile. I'm sure addons would be forthcoming, either in- house or outside developers. I imagine most "real" Hawaiian GA aviators mostly fly around Hawaii. wink

I notice most users of TOH don't complain about the limited area.

Flight is aparntly totaly new and dose not realte to FSX that was bult on 2000 if toy look at the settings there are controlse for the concord that disaperd from Flight sim after 2000 If i remebr rightly Microsoft are making it form scratch becaus MSFS was getting fat and tFlight is men to be streamlined and totaly new.
