Coming Oct... demo out now, pretty good... not no BlackShark or A10 sim... not a sim at all with the 100's of enemies but still fun... the team on team dogfighting and base attack MP should be great.

It's really bad when an Ace Combat game seems *too gimmicky*.
Someone had to work REALLY hard to get the controls that screwed up on the Apache. What a wretched experience! I didn't even finish it. The fighter part was almost as bad, but mainly just not fun. Even less a flight game, it's just a string of mini-games.
Also, it doesn't look nearly as good as AC6 does.

Verdict: spend the money on AC6 and Apache Air Assault if you don't already have them. 2 great games for $60 total--new.
I'm just going to play through them again.

Saw it on amazon for $20.
That flight stick set it came with originally would be nice to have, but I held out like an idiot last time I saw it new. LOL

Yes I picked up a used set of the sticks, so a copy of AC6 would be extra delicious

Nice! Should work with IL2 and Apache IIRC.
Not so much Over G, you can't get the throttle and rudder on the right spots.

I did too. Sometimes simpler is better. I was looking forward to the MP, it's got the city attack/defend that was in AC6 that was so much fun. Maybe when it's dirt cheap, but this just wasn't anything but a headache.
I'd rather dance with the angels!

I was initially disgusted with the helicopter section. I realized my problem was trying to play it in the cockpit view. That was NOT designed for being played in cockpit. Once I got past that, and stopped trying to fly it like a helicopter, and just relaxing, it started to work much better.

Air combat feels alot different from AC6. I found it nearly impossible to fight without the Dogfight mode, not that it's a horrible thing, but at times it felt like playing afterburner. Shooting at some Flanker and for some f'kin reason 3 of his buddies decide to park in front of me... huh?! Suicidial much?!

To be honest, I just had to realize that this isn't the Ace Combat I played in 6, and then I started to enjoy it for what it is. Just my .02.

The helicopters in the demo...they are pretty horrible, I nearly cried. Such lovely graphics.
I didn't finish the demo mission either, just turned it off.

There's still Janes in the future. Might be a let down as a Jane's game, but maybe it will fill the AC void. LOL
I'd give up a year of releases to get a new Over G.

I really had high hopes for this one and belived that Namco cannot screw this one up. But after I played the demo I will probably not buy this game (I own all AC since 04 came out on PS2). I thought that when you select the normal control (not arcade-like) it will play like former AC games but unfortunately they went for "Call of Duty" approach with lots of scripted events (QTE's, dogfight mode which basically turns this game into shooter on rails). Not to mention the Apache mission - I like to play from the cockpit view, but in this mission the only reasonable view to play is HUD-only which still is kind of weird. I olso didn't even finish the chopper mission, turned the demo off. I'm very dissapointed Namco. You just ruined the great series. On the other hand more casual players will probably have more fun out of it. nope
Still waiting for Over G Fighters 2 - if you liked OGF and you still own a PS2 be sure to check out Energy Airforce and Energy Airforce: aimStrike! (the second one posed for a really serious sim ,for consoles at least and is more realistic than Over G). I recommend them both.
Had plans for AC:AH, but now maybe I just install the new BMS for Falcon4 (the download is waiting for install for 2 weeks now). hahaha

Tried the demo and was very disappointed. I have AC6 already and with all the new games coming out $60 is a heafty price tag for a subpar flying game. IMO this is a step backwards in the franchise.

yep, agreed... was looking forward to this one, but after the demo... no thanks. (I'll wait for other comments and reviews of the full game.)

Yikes. Downloaded the demo a few days ago and have yet to try. This isn't getting me any more interested in trying it... I liked AC6, except for the constant "dance with the angels" crap.

Tried the helo mission earlier and didn't even make it through it. (didn't like it enough to finish) Definitely not getting this game.

It is a shame.. been anxiously awaiting this...another game with awesome terrain/ city scapes,, and great effects gone down the toilet( cough* Apache Air Assault* cough)

The DLC coming out, the Tokyo video I saw, is very impressive Poly count cities, with glimmering windows on the buildings and such..was tempted to buy game just to fly around the envirinments.. but that gets old quick. And like what everyone else said the Apache is a joke, I mean in cockpit view and you look down and the whole helicopter tilts forward, yet doesn't move forward is too weird. They should have gone the Apache: Air Assault route using that control scheme.. yawing the Apache was bad also because the camera had to move alll the way over to left or right before the helicopter started to actually turn.. unless they have a drastically different control scheme for the choppers I'll pass also...

I figured this would be the case since I saw the first trailer. The Ace Combat series was great for arcade games. Every now and then a basic arcade flight game where you can fly different planes like F-22s and Eurofighters (we'll never see a flight sim for those aircraft) was fun. But this really looks like CoD: Air Combat with constant "Press but X" sequences.

Its a shame to see Namco kill such a good series. I hope the backlash is big and they make an Ace Combat 7.
