I liked the earlier version, but was quite hard and never enough time to really invest and learn the secrets... but Vietnam was released via Steam today... anyone get it, how is it?

http://store.steampowered.com/app/63940/

I am a little pissed that on release day they release the game for 35 bucks with only 3 maps... but buy the deluxe for an additional cost and you get more maps... BS for a release day title, IMO.

Plus I'm TRYING to not buy as many games... economy is hitting me hard. wink

Will throw up some comments/screens tonight.

I'm not picking this one up myself since I still have MOW 1 and 2 to get to from Steam holiday sale madness, but in case anyone was wanting to pick this up, I noticed that GreenManGaming.com appears to have the non-deluxe version priced at $18.35 once you put it in your cart from here:
http://www.greenmangaming.com/games/strategy/men-of-war-vietnam/

The price on the page says $29.70 but once in the cart for me it shows $18.75.

The deluxe version shows up at $34.95.

In addition coupon code GREEN-MANGA-MING1 still works for 20% off, so can be used to make the normal version $15 total or the deluxe $27.96.

I'm actually tempted to do the $15 deal, but I already have so many new games to play and RO2 coming out Tuesday that I will have to pass for now, but passing on the deal in case anyone is picking it up.

Played for an hour last night.

I hate it. I hate it so much that I'm going to have to try again tonight, as it's so unusual for me to hate something this much that I'm actually intrigued.

Learning curve is a cliff, but in arbitrary ways i.e the punishment/reward progression seems designed by a psychopath.

Graphics are ok, but rough for my hardware and the controls are mushy. It got to the stage of me checking the battery in my wireless mouse.

Plus I can't get over not playing as the US, which is bothering me far more than I thought it would.

Do I really need to reiterate what I think about this franchise wink I've said it many times before, I'll say it once more - this franchise has been going downhill since FoW.....IMO!!

Save yourselves alot of frustration and headache and spend your money elsewhere......

MOW gets good reviews and I like it also but I can't comment on any of the sequels because I don't own them.

Not sure if you saw my post here Fearless:

There are a couple of missions released by modders that make the game more enjoyable now and I'm sure there will be more to come.

Missions can be grabbed here:
