What would be really badass is if someone modded the game so the ships went their real speeds. As it stands, 100 MGLT is only... 100 meters per second... i.e. 223 Miles per Hour. I'd love to see these ships really go 63000 miles per hour (i.e. zipping by Star Destroyers) etc.--of course, the lasers would have to be modded to go much faster too! It'd be awesome to try and play it like that to say the least.

Of course, they'd also have to mod in G-Forces... Turn too sharply while going too fast and... *splat*

At those speeds you'd never hit anything! Well, aside from perhaps collisions being more frequent...

LOL, that could be the tagline for the missions in the X Wing series!

Not X-Wing Alliance but the hardest missions I ever played were in Tie Fighter where I was piloting a tie bomber and waves of A-wings would come after me firing advanced concussion missiles. Some of those missions I must have replayed like 10 times before I won it.

UTR, the trick to flyin' the transports is to switch the Cannons to "Gunner AI" during a dogfight. First, you wanna "Target Nearest Starfighter" ("R") and then quickly switch to "Gunner AI" ("F") and fly evasively. Let the "Gunner AI" do all the work. Also, configure your power settings so that your Engines get maximum output by adjusting your "Cannon Recharge Rate" ("F9") to minimum (this doesn't effect the "Gunner AI"), but keep your "Shield Recharge Rate" ("F10") at normal ("Maintenance") to keep your Shields up. Remember to throttle down to ~1/3 to get the best turn rate possible as throttle settings directly affect your turn rate, but don't forget to throttle back up when your not flyin' evasively. Remember, you need to repeat the sequence for each target, so once your current target is destroyed tap "R" and "F" for every target 'til they're all destroyed or until you've accomplished your mission goals. Rinse and repeat.

I'll try to get a video up that demonstrates the above so you can see it in action...

I certainly remember getting hung up at points but, none of the earlier games have frustrated me like this one. I still consider Tie Fighter one of the all time best games I ever played.

Thanks Brennus. You must be right. My space dog fighting skills are not carrying me through this one. I am also not at the top of my game. I need a little help from my AI friends.

Out of curiosity, it is ok to drop the droid off and then comeback or am I dooming myself to failure if I do not remained docked?
