I'm test driving a 27 inch LED monitor. I have a few LCD monitors but when I went shopping for a larger new monitor, all I found [locally] was a LED. I've never seen such GLARE! I think I could shave in front of that thing. I have to resolve the issue or return it. Lovely screen, sharp...but whadda I gotta do, move the computer into a cave?

Anybody solved the problem?

What's the model number of your monitor? I don't believe that true LED technology is even available yet. Most "LED" monitors are called that due to being backlit by LED's instead of traditional means. This would have nothing to do with glare.

I think what you're experiencing is how some models have glass or clear plastic in front of the screen to give it the appearance of a more traditional CRT type of monitor. While this definitely improves the look of the monitor and makes it appear to be of better quality it really does little to improve the actual picture and allows for glare issues like what you describe.

All you can really do is return it and exchange it for something else...

You could get one like mine. I got a Viewsonic 24" that has a flat matte screen, no "mirror". I find it funny that anyone would WANT that. I paid extra for my old CRTs to get NONglare!

Wonderful.... sigh

I have a 26 inch LCD [LG]...but they are not available anymore.

I could have gotten a 23 inch LCD, but in 9-16 that is a pretty small screen........ for these eyeballs.

Oh, well.... 'something is wrong with everything'.....

There are always screen foils that can be applied.I'm pretty sure 3M has something like that in their catalog. Just might even be up to 27"...

I have the Samsung SyncMaster BX2450 LED. Good monitor, but only 24". No reflections.

This is a H/P model 2711 x 27. Oh... it looks and works great, can't gripe about that. I noticed my S-in-L bought a LED TV, and THAT thing shows every lamp in the room. Since posting, I've done a little homework, and see the glass part is necessary, and that is obviously the 'mirror'. Yup...

Thanks for the responses, tho...

Yeah it's actually an LCD monitor using LED's for the backlighting:

Keep in mind that it doesn't have to be an LED backlit monitor to have the glossy front glass. My monitor does not use LED backlighting and it has the reflective front "glass" also. I feel your pain.

Yup, glossy monitors are a huge no-no for me, especially in my line of work (graphic designer). But as JAMF has noted above, there are matte filters by companies like 3M.
