It's not you Moses...it's the car.
I have a Stealth, very old, but looks brand new, high polish.
I live in an area full of....well....'locals', who drive....mostly, old pickup trucks.
I've had problems too, but now I park far from the store, alone, next to a camera.
And I don't do it often, some times I leave the wife in the car, or I stay.
I would hate to think how bad it would be in a large city.
People who have crap, don't take care of their possessions, hate people who do.
It just magnifies what is wrong with them, they despise you for who you are.
Nothing personal.
I talked to a guy we had for MDP Auto. Same situation. He told me, 'nobody can have anything nice, everyone screws it up anyway, other people should know that'. That's why he keys nice new cars every time he sees one. He's just showing you that you cannot be better than he is. You make him look like a failure, every time he sees your car. You prove him wrong. So he shows you that you're wrong.
I'm waiting to catch them in the act, and "effect the arrest".
I walk very slowly when coming back to the car...and sometimes go in and out of the store right away.
I take care of what little I have, and won't tolerate anyone destroying my possessions.
That's a felony BTW, over $100 in damages, and grounds for a citizens arrest in this state.
If he resists, and I'm sure he will, you may use the necessary force to effect the arrest.
But be prepared for a law suit...
Me, I'm willing to pay for the satisfaction.
Sooner, or later, it'll happen.
