Now if only they would both adopt some classic America's Army style gameplay. wink
No respawns, realistic objectives, multiple objectives, OR kill off the enemy entirely.
I miss playing REAL good shooters.
However, Battlefield WILL be mine. LOL

Yep I think BF3 is going to be outstanding graphically and gamelplay-wise. That's a pc purchase for me.

I'll probably get MW3 for the xbox 360 as I've got all the others on that too and for the most part, I like them for the cinematic missions and mp is fun for me for awhile. Then I get bored and irritated with it, then I pick it up again sporadically. But I think their engine is starting to get long in the tooth. Looks like too many death animations have been rehashed. I'll probably enjoy it though for a time.

Yeah, MW3 still has that rendered look. Don't want to go as far as to say cartoony...just not real. But, damn, that Frostbite graphics engine has Battlefield looking incredibly realistic. And , yeah, the BF series is just plain absolute fun , on-line.

BF3 vs MW3 trailers? Is this a battle of the trailers? smile

They both look great and I’m looking forward to them ... more so with BF3 though since I still play the crap out of BC2 multiplayer. BC2 blows MW2/Black Ops multiplayer right out of the water IMO.

IMO.... BF and MW series are apples and oranges... their both in the fruit class, but 2 different fruits, and I think both can be played and appreciated by fans, and kinda why reading arguments about the 2 series drive me nuts, even with the devolopers...

Both are action shooters, but have a movie like SP experience, and both have a deep MP experience... and both steal ideas from each other...

But the BF series seems to be more of a open, full combat experience that focuses on team work and ground objectives, while the MW series seems to be more of a single player with friends, kill or be killed experience, with most objectives being kill domination... sure it's a team play game but not like the BF series.

If you know what each games purpose and history is, you can decide one is more your style then another, or do what I do... get both, play BF with friends, and MW with server guest... love them both.

i guess there's some kind of appeal to those kinds of trailers, i'm just not seeing it. but then again any attempt to look cool and other puerile, unrealistic things generally don't interest me.

seriously, i'm past the age where other people's opinion of what's cool has zero influence on me.

then why read, watch, and post... if only YOUR opinion matters.

I see many threads and games i disagree with, and you know what i do... go to the next thread of interest WITHOUT posting my worthless, un-needed 2 cents. You should try it sometimes johncage, it's AMAZING.

The only thing about MW3 is that it's the same thing since 2004. It's like an expansion pack they want $60 for.

I know I'm buying BF3 for the 360. Might also buy it for the PC.

I'm a little on the fence about MW3 but I have purchased all pervious versions of the game and liked them all. So, I may well buy this version too. It actually looks better than I expected it to be.

I don't think ANYONE, including me, has claimed or is claiming that the CoD series nor the BF series is a "realistic" military shooter, or even close to games like ArmA or RO series.... but their still great games for what they are, and as i said many times before if you just acknowledge that, you'll get over the "crap".

Can these games be played from a 3rd person perspective too (like in OFP)? I generally don't like 1st person view because the way the character's arms and weapons move seems very awkward.

Unfortunately no, for gameplay reasons I'm sure. I do agree that the vast majority of developers think that a human running with a rifle means he holds it against his right eyeball and sways it in front of his nose when he runs. Whether for orientation reasons or whatever, it's still annoying and can look incredibly silly.

Take a remote control, or DVD case or whatever and use it as a rifle to replicate what you see in something like call of duty with your vision range. That thing needs to be crammed in your eye socket and it's rather entertaining.

Hah! Totally agree!

But, will be getting both and they should be good for some fun--I usually don't expect much realism with these and end up enjoying them better that way.

I personally like having the singleplayer as well, it's like an action movie fix, not to filling overall but fun for a bit--like a 'dessert-only' restaurant menu.

wink

To call them games is a huge slap in the face to PC gaming or any gaming. They are nothing more than interactive movies.

MW3 looks like a repackaged MW2.
Dont get me wrong, I played the crap out of MW2 in mp, but to pay premium price for something no better than an expansion? Come on!...

Disgusting what people will pay good money for.

you forgot the "IMO"; which is a rare one for most of us who play and enjoy the game.

No, it's pretty much set in stone that a true PC game has dedicated servers and modding tools. It's backed by a company like BIS or TWI that keep updating their games and trying to push the envelope on their games. They don't force you top play the game how they want you to play it, but allow you the tools to change the things you don't like. They don't force you into a small, linear map and give you points for walking two steps, shooting your first victim and and spamming in-game voip with n00b.

There is a huge difference from a game and interactive movie. If you grew up with a Sega and that morphed into the Sega CD, you would know what an interactive movie is. That's pretty much why Sega CD failed.

I have more respect for DOD:S orange maps than I do the COD/MW+s of the world.

Disgusting what people will pay good money for.

Not to mention the extra $50 CoD:Elite subscription. Either that or pay for the 20 or so DLC per year a la carte - which will probably be set at $15-20 per DLC. They want you to pay the extra subscription to avoid paying DLC piecemeal.

So, I'm watching the trailers...

BF3 looks a little more tactical...MW3 looks like a newer Counterstrike with cutesy little addons...IMO.

I tried firing up Bad Company 2 the other day to play a few Rush rounds and you know something...

...that is the most boring waste of time I've lost precious minutes to. The Xbox 360 version of BF3 is not going to be as pretty as the PC version, but the PC version will have the Origin trojanhorseware coming with it and I really don't want to deal with all the hacking I saw the last time.

...squeaky-voiced ten-year-olds telling me they're going to rip out my eyes and skullbang the sockets? No thank you.

I will go with Forza 4.
