Hi,

I'm thinking about buying this just for the fun of it! Anyone have any experience with it? I'm curious how durable it would be.

Defender 3.5CH GYRO Electric RTF RC Helicopter

Thanks,
Doug

A toy from Amazon.com - as long as you're not expecting anything more than this, it should be fine. If you're thinking this will be something more however, you might want to keep looking (you have read some of the customer reviews.....I hope). Remember - you get what you pay for and when it comes to RC helis, often you pay way more than you get so one needs to be extra cautious!!

Thanks, yes, I spent a good deal of time reading and ended up with a Blade MCX2 RTF which seems to be very popular and higher quality. It arrives tomorrow.

I like under the second link the thing about people who bought this product also bought all the blades and linkages... let that be a lesson to you make sure you can get replacement parts! anything you fly can get broken no matter how careful or skilled the pilot. Good Luck though that Blade looks cool I would buy that for myself, and if I could get one of those little cameras.. copter

Yes, it does look like fun and I'm assuming I'll be needing some extra blades! I think a camera would just get me in trouble at the neighborhood pools..... copter lol

I like that the Mcx2 has 2 settings, one for noobs and one for performance. I've read that the coax design is great to learn on but gets boring after a couple of months so an upgrade to a single blade may be in order.... assuming interest is still there!

Thanks

Coax is definitely an excellent training heli, and yes, coax does get a bit boring after a little while. I have 3 Blade helis and while I've pretty much "outgrown" the coax kits, I still fly them once in awhile. When you're ready, consider the mSR - this is one tiny heli that is a micro blast to fly!!!

ps. good move going with Eflite for your first heli. There are alot of gimmicks out there that I think turn more people away from the hobby than inspire interest.

Thanks Desert_Ranger.

I just had my first flight and was a blast..... no damage to boot. I'm already thinking about a Blade 120SR BNF. I like the the fact that it is bigger and I can cross train between the 2..... just thinking at this stage!

Thanks Desert_Ranger.

I just had my first flight and was a blast..... no damage to boot and I was in the high-rate mode unknowingly. I'm already thinking about a Blade 120SR BNF. I like the the fact that it is bigger and I can cross train between the 2..... just thinking at this stage!
