Thinks...where did the 'customer' F4 pilots get trained - that could have been Nellis? Even better - Starfighter!
Still, I'm sure you're safe, the next ED sim will be maximum button-pushing and blowing stuff up from a distance.

Blowing stuff up from a distance is the new Air Force motto I think LOL I just want a great combat flight sim.

You mean carrier ops in the Black Sea, because that's what we've got! I'd love to see the Su-33 redone to DCS levels, actually. LOMAC just whet my appetite.

As for a Harrier, it's so hard to fly that in Strike Fighters, and that's a SIMPLIFIED sim. As long as it took me to master landing the Su-25T or takeoff or landing the Ka-50, I think it would take about 10x that long to learn to do STOVL with a Harrier in DCS!

What we know:

-It will be a "USA fixed wing aircraft"

-The project will be an outgrowth of a current defense contract, most likely similar to the A-10C transitional desktop trainer.

That said, I did some googling:

The Fighter Collection is one of two interested parties in an ANG JTAC training station contract^

-Their partners in developing the A-10C DTS, Total Immersion, currently have a product on their site called "Prime DTS" a UAV simulator for the USAF: http://www.totimm.com/

more googling to come, but that's a start if other people want to join the hunt.

Other considerations: Look at US Aircraft export activity, there's a lot of F-16 and F-18 activity. Only issue is both have a lot of classified systems on board, but they may go the VRS route and "guess" at it. At this point, I wouldn't rule out a UAV sim either folks. It does fit the profile, as it would fit into the JTAC environment.

Still, my money is on F-15e, as there's been a lot of sim activity from Boeing recently, and ED might have had some sub contract deals in the works.

Talking about circles, the thread in the ED forums is now over ...360 ...pages LOL :P

i think ED was involved also in a RL C-130 training system ?

^^ +1... Or an A6E TRAM. Jeeze, when we started getting those Marine Hornets onboard for carrier quals, I hated them. They just looked so... current. wink
