I've heard that If you have the DVD version you don't need to have the DVD in the drive, which is great. I see theres an explosive version of CFS3, but is that the same or just close to lure people to buy it?
Plus what does the outside packaging look like for the DVD version? That way I can tell when looking on ebay.

Bruce,
I took a chance and ordered this one on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380195074599

I was concerned maybe some of these ebay vendors use a photo they find and the pics do not represent the actual product/packaging.
It arrived last week and is indeed the dvd version I wanted.
Unfortunately, the ebay posting has expired.
I have read that you can also get the french version, since most of the game is totally replaced for OFF so the language is no issue.

Perhaps this ebay seller will repost his ad since it shows he still had product @ the time his listing ended.
In hind sight, I should have ordered 10 copies and offered to sell to the community. I just wasn't sure myself if I was getting the dvd version until it arrived.

Also: Do not get the Xplosiv version. I have heard it is NOT the dvd version. Only versions with Ubisoft branding on the package are dvd (someone correct me if that is wrong).

There were a few links in the FAQ, but I'm not sure it's still available. You need to look for the "Exclusive" brand DVD version from Ubisoft version
see the FAQ under

I bought mine on Ebay from a fellow in Australia. I paid about $20 with shipping, but felt it was worth it as I don't like to have to put the disk in and I know that no-cd craks can cause problems with CFS3/OFF. It was worth it to me.
My DVD box is Orange and frames in the regular CFS3 old CD cover art. At the top is "That's Hot," at the bottom is "Ubisoft" on the bottom right.
If you are looking at the thumbnails on Ebay this box really stands out from the rest and is easy to recognize, just do not pick the "Explosive" brand (also an orange frame).

Here's on on Ebay, but fairly expensive if you have to have it shipped. At least you know what it looks like now. Ebay Ubisoft DVD of OFF

Ooops. I didn't realize you literally meant DVD rather than CD-ROM. Sorry.
