And ther is this LOL moment : "...and it seems not a week goes by without the apppearance of another patch making noticable improvements to Cliffs of Dover." I believe it is now nearly 9 weeks since the last patch and over two weeks since anyone has heard a word from developers. This is out and out misrepresentation. unless the reviewer is on speed:)

I'm losing all respect for PC Pilot Magazine (btw, it won't reach Barnes & Noble in the U.S. for two more weeks). They've exposed THEMSELVES as know-nothings. Now I wonder if I should question ALL of their reviews. If they can't be accurate or candid about CLOD, how do we know they can be straightforward about any other review?
This is terribly disappointing news. I'm a regular buyer of their magazine. What do I do now?

What do I do now?Stop buying it? Just a suggestion, It worked for me. Two years now without this nonsense, I think it was their hardware 'advice' RE: FSX which was the 'straw that broke the Camels back'. Silly buggers, too daft to be taken Seriously. Just hammered another nail in their 'credibility' coffin RE: C.o.D., but it comes as no surprise. Send in the Clowns.

Stop buying it and stop playing CoD, easy. Done and done. If either improve substantially I'll pick 'em back up. If not, neither are worth my time.

I suggest you write a letter to the editor. I pride myself on writing well researched and well informed articles for the magazine, so I'll take your apology as a "know nothing" either here or in a private message. I invite you to critique my work on a factual basis. Again, I'd suggest a letter to the editor - it is your right as a subscriber (or newstand purchaser) to voice your opinion on the content. I'll apologize to you if you thought you were included in this as far as my comments were concerned. Your articles are good, too bad you don't write more of them. My frustration was solely with the fluff piece and editors apologies for CoD and the tweak guide. The review was really apologetic in excusing its faults and the tweak guide was incorrect and perhaps dishonest. The magazine should have never published that tweak article. Letter to the editor is inbound. I'll reconsider my subscription if you write more articles.

Probably just as well they don't know your identity as you could be sued for libel. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but you didn't state it as your opinion but as fact.
In my opinion the magazine is excellent, I buy it most months, the articles are very helpful, it lets me know about stuff I was not aware of and I find their reviews fair and entertaining.
Like most magazines they have to tread a fine line when criticising the firms that pay them through advertising but they have often given low scores for stuff they feel has not come up to scratch.

Well, just be clear - I don't know anything ( anything!) about Cliffs of Dover, so I have no idea about what any of the discussion is about. I am sure though that a letter to the editor is a good idea if you disagree with a review or other content - it is the only way we know what to address, what to fix, or what to cover. Venting on SimHQ or other forums is fine, but without direct communication and feedback it is hard to pass along accurate information. I'd never consider tackling an article about CoD though (thanks for the vote of confidence though!) because I don't really have a good background with either the development cycle or much knowledge about that period of history. Modern combat sims and general aviation stuff is my area of knowledge and I like to hope that my reviews and articles for PC Pilot are well received. I just got my copy of the August issue in the mail a couple of days ago and haven't had a chance to thumb through it yet. I did happen to notice though that the copy editor misspelled Sir Edmund Hillary's name in the sub-title of my article on Lukla airport near Mt. Everest.. Thanks for subscribing and if you do unsubscribe I hope that our coverage develops into an area of your interest and with content that is satisfactory. Regards, Chris
