Thx man just what I was looking for smile

What addons should I look into getting?

I have found something called rex 2 that looks cool.

Are there any other GFX enhancements that I should look into?

I spent a lot of my time flying with the OrbX Scenery and the Carenado Cessnas. At points it looks like a movie. The problem is that I can't fly anywhere else now.

The A2A Piper Cub with Accusim is a must as well. It has the best flight model of anything I've flown in FSX, and it's albeit simple systems are modelled perfectly.

If you fancy something with a bit more performance, I can recommend A2A's wings of power series. It's a good collection of superbly modelled WW2 fighters and bombers. The A2A spitfire looks pretty awesome as well, but I've yet to give that one a go. From reading this, you'd think I worked for A2A.

There's a damn good A-10 out there as well, but I can't remember who made it. It might have been IRIS, or something. They make a superb Shorts Tucano too.

I have read about the A2A things at well, the Spitfire look REALLY nice.

I think I will skip the a-10 as I have the dcs a-10c thing so I guess I am covered there smile

Is the orbx scenery something similar to UTX and GEX? Or ?

Now, I'm no expert on scenery in FSX, so you might want to get a second opinion from someone else on this forum, but I believe that UTX adds more detail to the scenery, so this includes more accurate road, river and railway placement, and better town layouts and such, whereas OrbX is photo scenery, so it replaces the ground textures with photos of the actual scenery, much like flying over a detailed google maps. GEX Replaces the stock textures and autogen models with better quality, higher res ones.

I can't speak for GEX or UTX as I've never used them, but I can say that ORBX is a tenfold improvement over the stock fsx scenery, and makes for some of the best VFR flying in any simulator.

UTX is basically the FSX scenery, only much better.
GEX I don't know, as I don't have it.

ORBX is either, an area of great precision, or a airport of great precision. ORBX is GREAT! It really is.

More add-ons I recommend:

REX2 (but you already noticed that one smile )
Aerosoft airports
Flytampa airports (These ESPECIALLY! Great sceneries, great framerates!)
Active Sky Evolution for the weather-engine

Right, that should get you up to speed nicely.

Now regarding add-on aircraft: Bear in mind, I only recommend HIGH end add-ons, non of that half-arse stuff:

PMDG: 737NGX / MD-11X / 747-400X / J4100
A2A Accusim: Spitfire MkI/II / B-17G / P-47D / Boeing 377 / Piper Cub
Aerosoft PBY Catalina
Classic Hangars FW-190
FlightSimLabs Concorde
Level-D 767
Lotussim L-39 Albatros
VRS F/A-18E Superbug X

Well, I hope this gets you up to speed.

Cheers,

I have both GEX and ORBX installed. I also have REX 2.0+Overdrive. You can get GEX Europe, GEX USA & Cananda, and GEX Middle East and Africa. You can get ORBX for Pac. Nothwest in the USA & a small part of Canada. You can also get ORBX for all of Australia. I don't recommend add-on planes that aren't DX10 compatible. Some buy them, I don't. I only buy add-on planes that are DX10 compatible. Finally, don't forget an A.I. traffic program. Only the retail programs are DX10 compatible. There is a freeware A.I. traffic program but it is not DX10 compatible and lacks many of the extra features of the payware programs. The three most popular A.I. Traffic programs are MyTraffic, Ultimate Traffic, and Traffic X. Look for the 2010 or newer versions for FSX. Why do you want a A.I. traffic program? Stock FSX has very few A.I. aircraft and uses fictional liveries. The larger payware programs give you many more planes, real world liveries in the correct airports, and stocks many more airports than the stock FSX. Also, each payware program has different special features. You'll have to read about all of them to decide on the one that fits your interests best.
