I'm sorry but if you're trying to justify 'good' music with the Strolling Bones...
So, you don't like the Rolling Stones then Flyboy?
Tell me, what do you like?
Cheers!

I went to a Britney concert in Las Vegas about 10 years ago with my girlfriend at the time and this was during the height of her climb (before the shaved head nutty bit occured) and it was fun. I was however probably the only straight dude there and because most attendees were kids the beer line was super short. I got totally blitzed and what was even better was that it was totally MILF central becasue all the hot moms in the area took their daughters to the show. Needless to say most of these "moms" and I use that term loosely were divorced and looking for trouble. Seriously, if you want to troll for a MILF go to a Britney concert. Needless to say the girlfriend I went with didn't last too much longer. LOL.

Britney Spears? George bloody Michael? You're all off yer rockers.
'PJ Harvey' Gigs are 'MILF central' Jason, plus they ROCK and are naughtier than your average, trust me on that.
Britney, shmitney.....Pffft. Heres a BONA FIDE sex bomb, who can play more instruments than I can count, and writes all her own songs. English Singer/Songwriter Polly Jean Harvey. Take it away, PJ! *drools*
PJ with 'Dress' at the V festival. Nice, err, dress. Watch it man, yer eyes will thank you for it.
Rawk n' Roll! 'The Letter' live on Letterman, great Jam. Ok, she's wearing what appears to be a pair of oven gloves, but she still gets away with it, lol.
Bit gentler, with a folksy vibe. 'You said something' on letterman, lovely song. Killer red dress. Embedding disabled so you have to watch on YT, sorry. Worth it though methinks.
Britney who? LOL. I'm going back to the 'interlude' thread, where all the cool cats like Vault, Piper and Wheels hang out. Hahahaha. Laters.

Je suis profondément dérangé par les choix musicaux efféminés d'un grand pourcentage de notre adhésion.
Santé!

You have to give a certain level of recognition to 'artists' such as Britney Spears and George Michael as if acts like those weren't around, there'd be nothing to measure the real good stuff by. You have to see bad in order to see good.

Are you seriously comparing Britney Spears to George Michael? Britney can't sing. Michael can. Britney will be forgotten - Michael won't. Britney has to rely on 'sexiness' to sell records - Michael doesn't. Anyone can spit out an up tempo number, but it takes real singing ability and control of singing technique to sing a ballad; Michael has that in spades. One more thing: how long has Michael been around for? Exactly. You don't last that long in this business if you're no good.
And before anyone starts, I'm not some sort of George Michael fanboy - my favourite singer of all time is Freddy Mercury - but I have respect for good singing when I hear it; Michael on CD is good. Michael live is stunning.
@Flyboy - I'd be interested to know as well - if your idea of good music isn't the Stones, or George Michael, then what is? No doubt some of the crap that passes for music these days?
FYI - The Strolling Bones are actually a Stones tribute act.

I'm quite sure they are, Stuffy.
Meanwhile, I've been reading a book penned by no less than Ham Stroker. It's title? 'DoucheFeratu...Dawn of the indefensible'
It's nothing to do with PC crap like Homophobia, (I fecking LOVE Elton John....Fantastic Songwriter) its just the singular, unassailable fact that George Micheal is not very good.
I just don't know what is wrong with people anymore. Honestly. I give up.

George Michael not very good? As I said before if he wasn't good, he wouldn't have lasted so long. He is amazing live - absolutely unbelievable. Elton John used to be good, but his voice has well and truly gone.

Don't ever judge me simply because you lack in musical taste. I wouldn't give you the pleasure of letting you know what music I like, simply because I don't think you'd be able to handle any artist that doesn't get into the Top 40, or whatever it is nowadays. And I wouldn't give you the satisfaction as I'm sure you'd simply come back and say whatever I like is sh*t just because I said what you like is sh*t - even if it was the best f*ck*ng thing you'd ever heard.
Besides, a little detective work on your part would soon uncover my musical tastes. Use your imagination, or don't you have any like George Michael?
Oh, and I don't wish to hijack the original poster's topic any further.
Biggles, thanks for the PJ Harvey clips there- I've been in love with her since middle school.

The Top 40? Full of crap these days, I pay no attention to it. If we're going to speak of detective work, then a little on your part would soon uncover the fact that most of my music tastes resides in the rock genre - specifically older rock. Top 40 indeed. As for me lacking in musical taste - I've never heard anything so funny in my life. I've listened to, and sang, every genre from Jazz to Pop, from Rock to Opera, from Old London Music Hall to West End musical theatre.
As to lacking in imagination, well I haven't had to resort to swearing to get my point across now, have I? Seems that someone's just a little bit tetchy tonight. Maybe you're an Arsenal fan.

Love this thread
There is an absolute ton of good music still around , but i am not weighing in to this debate, music, like art, is in the ear of the beholder
And if anyone ask's what music i like they can take a moutha#$^*ing' leap of a huge big f*&^%n cliff into a pile of blunt large f@#$% rocks.
The rolling stones i never really liked much until i heard Exile on main street, same old boring songs were alwasy played on the radio when i was a kid , you know how radio kills music by only ever playing the hit song and never anything else off the album, and they play it until your ears bleed with boredom.Satisfaction, jumpin jack flash, brown sugar.Exile never turned me into a big stones fan but i really liked that album.
