Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?

We in NYC get an earthquake and we are getting a hurricane (from the sounds of it) in the same week. I wonder what next? behindcouch

We here in South Florida dodged the bullet this time.

Last big one we had up in MA. was Hurricane Bob, back in 1991. I'm not sure if the meteorologists are justifying their pay or if this really could be a big one. It's almost the only the coverage you see up here. Good luck to those in the path.

They're predicting landfall in NC right where we vacationed couple weeks ago.

My uncle's in Wilmington- I think he and his girlfriend are about to pack it up and head to my grandmother's place in Southern Pines. I don't expect Raleigh to get it too bad- nothing like the Floyd, anyway. I haven't heard yet if the Atlantic Fleet at Norfolk has started making preps to get underway or not- I know we did for Isabel in 2003.

The local news said some 60 ships left Nofuk (well, that's how it's pronounced).
They also had some great footage of Mudhens leaving Seymour Johnson heading West.

The rain & wind has finally stopped here. I was surprised, but we had some intense outer bands cross us (and we are far from the center). Sky right now is like I've never seen. Grey, with ominous cumulus clouds mixed in - wiping past at a fantastic speed in a circular motion. Pretty cool.

You folks up North..your turn.

Woah, just saw this on the BBC a half hour ago, hang tight chaps/chapesses and batten down the hatches. Hell hath no fury, like Mother Nature having a bad hair day.

Take care peeps.

It is almost starting to sound like a glorified nor'easter with a storm surge for the NYC strike...

A little too obvious, don't you think? wink

I *could* have gone with this, but that would have been plain mean: stirthepot duck

But seriously, I hope everyone makes it safe through "f...ing Irene"...

The wait is just creating more anxiousness. I just want it to get here and get out quick and not linger too long. We are already getting the rain, and soon the winds will be here. The food shelves are wiped clean in the groceries stores, and the stupid Weather Channel is calling it just short of an apocalypse. I never thought I will be living under a Hurricane Watch in damn freaking Northern New Jersey Cuss

Hey Piper, so I guess you still have power. How was the damage there?

I think the last trailing bits of the storm are passed now- time to party!
