I hopped out of the practice races Wednesday night after I crashed and also ended up getting knocked offline due to a storm! Light show was more of a strobe effect that didn't stop for about half an hour. It was dark, but I could see my yard outside almost as if it were daylight with all of the flashing skies.

DSL phone lines don't like static in an electrical storm...lol.

Well, it's up to Doug, I suppose. I for my part certainly hope so, if not straight away than hopefully at a later time. Competition is pretty close here either.

I don't know why this F2 mod is so much fun and easy to drive, compared to trying to drive the Mazda roadster in iRacing.

Probably have a new series early in 2012. Next 4 months around here will be busy. Alternately we could have a one off race at a track like Fuji before end of the year.

Sorry to say i'll definitely be missing this one. frown

I'm busy with seeing family and doing a load of well overdue stuff round the house which means my weekend racing time is limited for the moment. My family make a lot of sacrifices throughout the year so i can enjoy my hobby so i can't complain at having to restore the balance from time to time. It's a bit of a shame as Rouen is a track i really enjoy.

I hope you guys have a great race. Have fun!

What a heel, I completely missed race on false assumptions of start time. Hope you all had fun and congrats to the winner. On to SCES.

And the next disco...

Congratulations to the eventual race-winner, the podium takers and all participants who eventually make it till the end.

I also hope the participants enjoyed this series.

I really feel for you Christian. You were running well and were nicely placed for a good finish when your disco happened. I hope things improve connection wise for you in the future.

Cheers,
Stewart.

Thanks, Stewart. Frankly, I don't understand this anymore.

I will take apart this system and check if there is anything wrong here. I also asked Doug to check the server logs.

Series Comments

First, I feel so badly for poor purolator who was the protagonist for this series, helped to get it going, was tremendous help to me in selecting tracks and setups, the custom LE version, and other aspects, then have two discos on two consecutive races of the three events.

I'm a bit upset we actually had grids of half who signed up, but I'll take fault for fouling up the first race time (yes, those drugs I'm taking for the broken back work quite well...why do you ask?). It probably was a bad idea to hold the races at an hour earlier than usual. I think from now on all our races should start at 12 PM eastern time regardless of series.

Also, you guys tell me -- too many races at SimHQ Motorsports? Are we getting too much going on? Would appreciate your thoughts as the 2012 season and rF2 and iRacing series are being thought through.

The racing was terrific and you all never cease to produce some of the best wheel-to-wheel races online anywhere.

I think some of the challenge in getting the mod car set to behave put off a few drivers. It required a bit more than drag and drop effort and some just didn't have the patience or time for it.

Next race for these cars will be at Fuji in October or November. It will be a single spec car event, painted in multi colors with a fixed setup.

Thanks again for all that participated, and like the Skodas, Sports 2000, and Classic F1 races, the F2's will return soon.

As someone who observed this series from a distance but didn't participate, I think you're doing fine in the number of options that you're presenting to everyone here.

While it would be nice to have more people in each race, I think that as a group (sim racers at SimHQ) we aren't a bunch that's going to join every single event for a list of 20-30 starters per race regardless of how many (or how few) races you run.

I know that in my case, it's because my family situation doesn't allow me to commit to a lot of hard dates for races. SCES having only 7 events worked out well in that regard, and jumping into the occasional VHR is usually do-able.

But beyond that I can't commit to much, I just get my racing fix when I can (usually late at night after the wife & kid are off to bed).

The variety, frequency, and casual nature (except for SCES wink ) of racing is why I'm here in the first place and consider this my "primary" group...even if I'm only running with you a few times a year.

Sucks crashing from second place but I only practised with a really low down force setup and was pretty slow with more down force. I lost it coming out of the hairpin at the kink in the track, bent my left front suspension, and just couldn't corner after that without losing it. It was fun while it lasted though.

Well I enjoyed it very much although I thought the race was a bit long. When I belonged to the Mybroga racing league we raced for generally 45 minutes, but regardless, I definitely want more.

I'll also get into the iRacing league if possible.

After running the practice sessions on Wednesday and Saturday using the low downforce setup (provided by Birdski / Purolator) without much success I made a race time decision to add wing and take what it gave me. What I got was actually a faster car overall that was more stabil under hard braking. That it took a checkerd flag was unexpected. I had good fun racing early on with Dirt Driver, swapping positions several times. I was content to just ride, maintain, play it safe. Both DD and Caana had troubles in the hairpin on different laps and managed to work past them. Caana got back around me but had more problems at the end of the straight. Then I followed Dave O around for 5 or 6 laps until a tire off allowed me to close the gap and slipstream past him on the big straight. With no one in front of me it was time to settle in and run some smooth laps. Wow, P4, and then Alex has an off, then Ben. P2? I am not believing this, I can see the Warthog at the hairpin recovering from an off. OK, stay steady, don't get rattled and give it your best to pressure. But he had bent his suspension and moved over to let me by cleanly. Smooth sailng from here on out. Ya, right. 3 laps to go and my mind wandered and almost beached it on the kurbing in the hairpin. That allowed Dave Bradley to close in but that is as close as he would get.

Puro with another disco. Most frustrating. I know you will get the problem resolved.

Thanks to all who participated and I urge everyone to come race with us!

Much, much fun today for me. Attrition does not usually allow me and my conservative style/setups to get this close to the front. But there were many with misfortune today. Henny, Dave O, and I seemed to sail through it and still be relatively close to each other as the end of the race approached. I was just trying to make it to the end when I saw Henny recovering from a problem in the hairpin. My first thought was "oh no, now I'm going to push harder and mess up somehow". Sure enough I had an off at the end of the long straight but managed to recover and just stay ahead of a charging Dave O.

As always, many thanks to Doug and special thanks to Purolater for all the work he put into the series. I know he must be frustrated with the discos but his work did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Dave Bradley
