I found out about this from the Gamers With Jobs podcast a few days ago, and it sounds pretty fantastic.

Taken from their website (http://artemis.eochu.com/index.html):

"Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together. One computer runs the simulation and the "main screen", while the others serve as workstations for the normal jobs a bridge officer might do, like Helm, Communication, Engineering, and Weapon Control."

The concept sounds pretty fun, although getting 6 people and computers together could prove challenging, especially if, like myself, you don't have a lot of geeky friends.

Has anybody tried this before?

Great find! It sounds like a great idea on paper, but can you imagine keeping a straight face in the midst of this lot:

I admire their dedication to the geek cause, but that's a step too far even for me. rofl

Man! I considered my self a geek but these guys have taken geekdom into another dimension! That guy at the helm was trying to hold his laughter and with those costumes I can't blame him! Maybe this software could be of use in a Sci-fi TV show or movie but with better graphics.

Will love a real spaceship simulator but for one person. Have no time to meet other geeks online.

Captain Goodfellow about broke me up. He's stereotypically British. "Good show, men, stiff upper lip and all that!"

Years ago there was a spaceship sim called the Aubrey that was built - it was insanely complete. It was eventually sold as an attraction to a theme park in Singapore. Unfortunately, I've been unable to find any good pictures of it.

Does anybody else think that Captain Goodfellow was more like Captain George Mainwaring than Captain jean Lue Picard?, Pretty awesome though.

This was just released on the iOS platform. Looks like if you got a crew together in one room, it'd be a lot of fun!
