Finally hooked up with a friend of mine to play some platoon WoT.

While we were both kinda challenged reflex wise I had a good time.

We chose to drive the M2 and M5 Stuart variants so we both had the same class of vehicle. We got in our recon tanks and did just that. Talking on TS3 we both set up overwatch positions and watched as our arty (when they didn't have their heads up their asses smile ) take out what we spotted. I got carried away because I've got the M5 with the 75mm gun and then get all like "I can go toe to toe with bigger guys!". As a result I got blowed up more. But we had a hoot and it was nice to get some cooperative action going...

Awesome! I bought a 3 day premium account 2 days ago and have been playing non-stop.
Only I didn't have anyone to play with frown

My son and I are greatly enjoying the free 2-man platoon. Since he's just starting out, we mostly play the lower tiers but sometimes I take my Lowe or JagdPanther or GW Panther out for a spin with him on a small fast tank as scout. Our best moments are when we're both on Marder IIs or Stug IIIs. At this point, both TDs are now fully upgraded, mine is fully tricked out too and he's got a mod or two in the Marder. We just go out and "wolf pack" the hell out of anyone we come across. With what the Marder goes up against, we usually kill the enemy in 3 shots - my first shot, his backup shot, then my second shot. Dead. Move on.

He now has more free XP than he knows what to do with, but I try not to convert gold to credits if I can, so he has to grind his way to the next tank credit-wise.

Going with fast mediums or lights and this game really is a twitch-game. Firing at the enemy while doing 30-50 kph, navigating while aiming is quite a challenge. However, with slower heavies or TDs, it's more about cover, spotting, and taking out the other guy from range and taking him out quickly.

Played a game last. The two guys I was platooning with, also brought their Tigers. When the battle loaded there were two more. All 5 of us moved as a pack and we just rolled across the map leaving a trail of dead enemy tanks. It was quite a bit of fun.

The game is great when it works out.
Greg.
