I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit with UAC turned off. When I attempt to run the sim I get a Starforce error.

"This application can be launched with a release version of MS Win 95 OSR2.1/98/ME/NT4.0/2000/XP, server 2003 only".

When I run the Starforce update I get an error stating "No installed protection drivers found to update"

Any ideas anyone.

I solved it. I bought and downloaded Flaming Cliffs 2.

Yeah the the starforce is a bugger, but there is a solution.

This is 33rd_Firefox´s LockOn under Win7 guide, I just translated it.

1.Start setup.exe via right click and choose "run as administrator".
2. run a normal installation.
3. Install FC 1.1 again by right click "run as adminstrator".
4. Install normally.
5. Intall the 1.12b patch, again "run as adminstrator".
6. install normally.
7. Start LockOn.exe in the installation folder, "run as administrator".
8. The Starforce message pops up.
9. Answer yes.
10. Ignore error message, and close window.
11. Starforce update "run as administrator"
12. Install the Starforce update.
13. Restart! (ONLY and REALLY ONLY after completing steps 1-12!!!!!)

15. Open the LockOn installation folder.
16. Right click on LockON.exe , click on properties.
17. Go to the Compatibility tab.
18. Check the box "Run as administrator"
19. Start Lockon

Following steps are only concerning the FC 1 Download version.

20. In the Starforce Menu, choose "Automatic Activation".
21. Type in the activation key.
22. LockOn should start.

Again all the work was done by 33rd_Firefox of the 33rd ABW, only the translation was done by me.

As the translation was done by hand, it would be helpful if you would point out grammar errors to me.

On the other hand FC 2 is the way to go, this should just help you if you still want to get FC 1 working. It should work right alongside it, as it uses a different installation folder than LockOn/FC 1.

Clear skies and many happy landings

Somewhat related, can I remove LOMAC after installing FC2? They seem totally separate.
