I just encountered and solved a (perceived) problem with my new SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium Fatality card. I plugged my headset mic into the Line-In/Mic "Flexi Jack" and couldn't get it to work last night. I began to think my mic was broke or worse, the card. But somehow, even in my slightly incapacitated mental state, I thought to Google the problem. So here is what happened and hopefully this post will be here for the next person who might run into this silly problem: There is a place to choose whether the "Flexi Jack" will be Mic level or Line-In. I thought it would be right in the mixer part of the Creative Audio Console, but it isn't. You have to click on the word "Settings" at the bottom to get to that part. I don't recall having to do that on my previous X-Fi card, so it never occurred to me to even look for it. If anyone else has or had this problem, please post here so I won't feel quite so dense. Lies are welcome.

I never had that problem, but I don't have a SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium Fatality card. When ever I plug in something to any of the jacks on my computer, a box pops up and asks me what I'm plugging in, microphone, speakers or headphones so the Realtek chip is so smart, I don't even have to remember what color is for the mic or headphones.
I kind of wish the Realtek had a name like Realtek Mega Fatality though.

my X-Fi Platinum Fatality doesnt require all that. I used to use the Flexi Jack all the time. they might have changed it since my card though.
I think creative's software is annoying TBH. I gotta launch the Audio HQ to set things, where as my brother's system is like SpeedBump's, he plugs something in and it asks what it is and changes the mapping on the port. so he can plug Mic, Line-In, Speakers, Line out, and TOSLink into the same spot and Windows 7 just asks what he's connecting. simple, no bloatware needed.
I switch my X-Fi / Audio HQ back and forth between all 3 modes (Entertainment for Movies, Game Mode for Games, Audio Creation Mode when im doing studio work).

Creative used some champion gamer named Fatal1ty as the spokesperson for their latest products. Maybe if you show Realtek your gaming prowess, they will call the next chip the Realtek Mega Speedbump. ROCKIN!

aka Johnathan Wendel (Fatal1ty)
I remember my First Sound Blaster Live Platinum 5.1 Cost me $299 + Tax.
My Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi PLatinum Fatal1ty cost me like $349.
there's GFX Cards with Gamer Endorsements now.
I think the Santa Cruz Turtle Beach cards had an endorsed model too.
Im still debating on if I want to move my X-Fi to my new system when I built it or just leave my Current system intact and use it as secondary audio/video studio recording/editing platform.

Hey Skate, what do you record to? Pro Tools or some such? I used to record to Sonar when I felt more ambitious (basic song writing).

I use ProTools sometimes, But for the most part its fruity Loops with all the IL Studios Plugins and standalone VSTs So we can hook up guitars and load the pedal settings and record directly. Same for Drums.

Merged line-in and microphone jack? Don't think I've seen that before outside of notebooks...
Then again, my X-Fi cards are the Auzentech-built ones (Prelude and Forte), which have separate line-in and mic inputs.
So far, no X-Fi card I know of has jack sensing in the same sense that Realtek does, but I don't really need it since I know where to plug in my mic and headphones. (And, no, it's not the front-panel audio jacks. Those introduce a bit of noise, and the Forte has a weird issue with occasionally playing loud noises over the front-panel output, but not the rear outputs.)

The 5 and 1/2 bay for my X-Fi and my old Live! 5.1 both has merged Line-in 2/Mic2, it had a Knob, you turn it all the way down it clicks and turns to Line-In. I dont get any static from using those, or the Mini MIDI Ports that I abuse.

I dont get any static from using those, or the Mini MIDI Ports that I abuse. So those 5.25" front bays do what they're supposed to well, unlike the front-panel audio headers integrated into most current computer cases? That's good to know. I can't bring myself to drop the cash for one of those front-panel bays meant for the X-Fi Titanium line (and the Forte and HomeTheater HD), though. Relatively unfeatured compared to what they made for the old PCI cards (which were loaded!), still just as expensive. You'd think that on the other side of the 5.25" bit (which adds the dual RCA-out), they could at least add a S/PDIF input and output...
