I also loved the story in Tie Fighter and it really rocked how you were personally decorated by Palpatine whenever you accomplished some major achievement.

I came late to the SW games and I only played X-Wing Alliance which was quite fun.

Impressive detail on those small models. The X-Wing even has some weathering on it!

I'm amazed that no-one has grabbed TiE Fighter and X Wing and updated the textures - seems to happen with every other game out there. Or have they?

Its kinda tough to get anything like that out of Lucasarts since they have such a stranglehold on the Star Wars game items and such. Or at least that is my impression of it. I am tempted to build a Win98 box just to get some X-Wing and Tie Fighter action in soon.
