Great stuff! Can't believe you did the panel outline freehand w a jigsaw! Steady hands you've got there.

LOL Thanks well I did some sanding here and there but iPhone pics hide a lot of the little errors! Wish I had a CNC to cut it out......

Posted a little more progress from last night here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=77961 not much (no pictures) just my observations from my first proj. tests. I would have taken pics if I had a third arm lol!

EDIT: You can't really tell either but I cut the two largest gauges with a jigsaw too (I'm most proud of those cuts) the holes were 3" wide and my hole saw set only went to 2"!

Looking forward to how you set it up in your cockpit! I'm all for a front dash, but spacing it from your knees and vertically as well is a bit confusing for me.

Yeah I'm not sure how I'm going to set that up yet. I currently use a projector for visuals but I don't want it too high/low for viewing so I'll probably have to make some compromises here and there. I'm going to think more about that when I start to build side consoles and do rough fittings. In any case this thing wont be 100% accurate or even close, for one I plan to use a bucket seat from a car. More comfortable than the existing playseat setup and adjustable back/forward for different people to fly.

Damn Hitch!!! That's looking really sweet!....nice work. thumbsup

Even though I am a rotorhead at heart (Wings?!....who needs wings?), having been an A-10A electrician back in the day, means I've always had a soft spot for the hog. If I ever did a jet pit, it would have to be the A-10, too!.....regardless of the cool new controllers.

But something changed I decided I'd got for the Warthog since the options for it are as versatile as the aircraft itself.

While the flexibility IS nice, with a generic pit, I can honestly say nothing comes close to having a dedicated pit design. (IMHO smile )

I'm really looking forward to seeing this one come together.

Thanks Grizzly you're definitely a huge inspiration with your pit!

I had a little more time to work on my front panel today and posted the progress here:

That's great work Hitch! Don't tell me you used the jigsaw to cut those circles out of it. I can't draw a circle, let alone cut one out!

So were you sweating a little bit as you cut up your TM MDF's? I was. I kept thinking..."How can I buy another set of these without the wife finding out that I cut these up and broke them?"

Keep at it! Charge

LOL Yes to both of you. Had to change some plans though I happened across a 19" widescreen monitor and after some modifications will be using that as a display for instruments rather than the projector. I have to make some sacrifices on the panel layout but in the end the entire pit will have a smaller profile overall. The front half was going to be huge using the projector. Less heat, less power consumption and best of all less hassle!
