Mine was a few weeks into a career and was in a furball, I shot and damaged a plane taking his elevator clean off, as I dived to engage a lower enemy I banked right into the earlier rudder which was fluttering down like a sycamore leaf.
Took my prop clean off as well as killing me outright.

I've seen the AI do some really stupid things and die in weird ways, but I can't beat setting my own plane on fire

An AI plane followed me into a cloud and shot me down... completely blind. Radar equipped Albatros?

I've been really close to balloons that have burnt (when I ceased firing it was OK, but started burning as I passed over it), and not caught fire yet. I'll have to keep an eye out for that!

Uninjured with my plane ( don't remember the type) in one piece albeit a very much not functioning engine and a report of getting shot down by ground fire. I was high enough up to glide across the trenches and was able to land in friendly territory though.

In a way it was really annoying to get killed like that.

was on an enemies six down low and slow filling him with lead, all of a sudden i see tracer fire over my left shoulder, i peer over just as a friendly comes tearing past at high speed cutting through my struts with his wing.
my wings flutter and separate, all three of us fall to our deaths.
