I put the Renault sound file in there... So my Wheatcroft Sounds like it has a Renault engine but it still has the stock BMW of the LE...

All I did was change the Sounds value in the top half of the .veh file Above Team history and information ...

Mine looked like

Sounds=Holbay.sfx

and now looks like

Sounds=Renault.sfx

and the Renault sound pumps through, it does have a nice note to it... It was that or the Ford note for me...

Edit - nevermind, I read the post instead of looking at the calender...see that the first race was moved to the 14th....my bad.

Ok, but that is not what I meant. So the engine still looks like the Holbay engine, but it has the sound of the Renault and the specs of the BMW engine. smile

Ah yeah that's it, I don't have a clue how to change the engine's physical look... smile

I'm having a problem with the virtual mirrors, the 2 side mirrors show the wheels... Does anyone have a idea how I can fix that?

Yeah those mirrors are a problem if you try to run from the hood view. The cockpit view is ok but I'm not diggin all the head shaking.

It's also a known bug with this mod, that if you chosse the hood view the rear mirrors get obstructed by the rear wing. Since I exclusively use the cokpit view it never bothered me.

But you can get rid of the head shaking within the cockpit. Personally I consider it too unrealistic anyway, compared to no headshaking at all, as your gaze would stay rather focused while driving. In F1 1985 it got down to a point where it became so bad for me, that it literally made me dizzy and gave me slight nausea!

I don't consider it so bad in F2, but that's a matter of personal taste. I found this info somewhere, don't recall where it was:

Go to your PLR file (Programfiles -> Rfactor -> Userdata -> your name and then the PLR file) and change Mult1 and 2 to zero.

Cockpit Vibration Mult1="1.00000" // Primary vibration multiplier affects eyepoint position (base magnitude is in VEH or cockpit file)
Cockpit Vibration Freq1="31.00000" // Primary rate of vibration affects eyepoint position (higher framerates allow higher rates)
Cockpit Vibration Mult2="1.00000" // Secondary vibration multiplier affects eyepoint orientation (base magnitude is in VEH or cockpit file)
Cockpit Vibration Freq2="37.00000" // Secondary rate of vibration affects eyepoint orientation

Also in the vehicles cockpitinfo.ini file, alter the line CockpitVibrationMag=0.005 to 0

-

Another user reported he considered the internal mirrors as being set too low. He changed that value from 0.40 to 0.60 and even stated that 0.65 might be better.

The same way I paint all my cars...

Take an existing team from the mod, copy the entire team folder and put it somewhere else, change the folder name in this case instead of 22_Wheatcroft it's 87_Wheatcroft or something similar. I then edited all the file names to suit the new car number in this case 13.dds instead of 12.dds, then changed the .veh file so it would use the new .dds file name (in this case both .veh files). Put the folder in the appropriate directory, in this case All_Teams, and then it was time to take the .dds file into Paint.net and get to customizing the paint scheme..

The only other alterations I made was to select a different helmet I copied #17s helmet file and renamed it before placing it in my cars folder as I couldn't open the helmet.dds file for some reason, and I also as mentioned earlier changed the engine note of the car so it sounds like the Renault engine by changing the sounds in the .veh file...

Thanks for that Purolator, I might just have to get used to cockpit view for this series, I've always used TV cockpit because it allows me to see more of where I'm putting the front of the car and the virtual mirrors work better then the onboard ones usually..

Okay, I made my own team and car, I just have to make a new helmet and I will send it to Doug.

Alex Coutie / #90 / Maple Leaf Racing

I will have to miss the first race though, I will be at my cottage.

I changed the wheatcroft car too, but the problem is all the textures are back to front on the car?

Just to avoid a misunderstanding, the virtual mirrors work, when you are in cockpit view. smile

Errr...sounds somehow familiar to me. Could you make two screenshots maybe and post them here? One from the actual car and one how it looks like in the paint program you use? Maybe we can help sorting this out.

Do you mean the decals are back to front or the Front wing is over the rear wing?

Yeah I don't have them enabled in cockpit view though, and they would still have the rear wing in the way wouldn't they?
