Funny thing is...this is why I hate youtube (love it, actually), because I am watching many vidoes of the same type on gun laws. And with youtube suggestions, I have no clue where I am at now....
It's funny, just a few days ago another person I watch on YouTube also got stopped for open carry. He didn't film it, but talked about it after. He's from PA and usually does not open carry, but it turns out that he wandered into some "private zone" that he did not know existed. He assumed it was still public land. The people called that a guy was out there with a gun.
According to the guy, the officer was very polite and patiently explained to him the difference and how the area he walked through was a private zone and the laws for open carry do not exist there. Officer was totally cool and realized that it was just a misunderstanding and no harm done. He said that he had no problem with the law but someone called about a gun so he just had to check it out. Wished him a good day and off he went.
It seems to me that a CCW or at least CC is a lot less hassle (assuming you have the laws and licensing on your side). People see a gun and don't know the laws and freak out 'cause "some dude's got a gun out there".
video 1 is the majority... most just don't see it or report it... instead cop video 2 gets all the attention... for the most part cops are at a thought of live and let live as long as you don't interfere with others and don't break laws... most cops that I know follow my phlosigy... respect the citizen UNTIL they disrespect you... then game on.
Cop #1 had a great attitude. For the life of me I don't know why the guy would not give his name....unless he had something to hide. And as somebody else said...why the heck would you carry an unloaded gun ??? you would be better off with a bowie knife if you want to protect yourself ??
Well now people understand how difficult it is on the street dealing with these whackos mixed in with idiots just trying to make a youtube point. This could have easily escalated had the man with a camera been a full-fledged extremist whacko, and then everyone would be questioning why the cop approached the man in the first place. Funny, no one is questioning the cop's initial "stop and detain", because afterall, it turned out good, and the cop is "just a good guy", even a former marine - so he's just a good ol' boy like the rest of us...

He is there because someone called 911 and reported a man walking around with a gun. Once that call goes through the police are required to send someone out to investigate (just in case the guy does shoot someone they dont have to say well we didnt send anyone and get a lawsuit.)
I did not know you could walk around with a gun on your hip anymore. I carry my 9mm here on my ranch just in case some one tries to mug me while I'm feeding the cows.
