Get GPU-Z, it has a nice logging tool (and yes, you only have to type it into google to find it ). Even my 1280 MB GTX 570 doesn`t use its memory to 100 % @ 1920x1080. As said before, FSX isn`t depending on the biggest video-memory or the most fast GPU. It loves fast CPUs. So anything above 1,5 GB is overkill, if your main target is FSX and you don`t have a multi-screen setup.

No you can have both.

Sorry, I have two moniotrs, I wasn't thinking. However you can click on the little graph icon at upper right and it will log it for you. Right click on the graph and make sure memory usage is checked. Run FSX for a bit and minimize it and see the results, or run FSX in windowed mode.

WAAAAY nicer Spit than CoD. Far more realistic too. Its the most realistic Spit yet. Engine sounds are good and dynamic, meaning they react to what is wrong with the engine as in real life. Very deep in detail and authenticity.

I tested the v memory on my GTX 580 and it never went over 800Mb usage in FSX, even over Manhattan. Usually uses 4-5 Gb of RAM (It used 6 Gb once). Its totally CPU bound CPU usage near 100 % on three cores @3.67 Ghz. More Mhz is the only thing it seems to want.

Dude, you have a better CPU than me already. I have a QX6850 OC'd @ 3.76 Ghz 8 Gb RAM and a GTX 580. You could probably overclock yours to over 4 Ghz on air. But I'm puzzled as to why you are having trouble running FSX with that rig. Perhaps your config fileis not optimized for your rig. Honestly, it took me many hours of tweaking the config file to acheive success with FSX, it can be a buggerfor some and for others not. I can't help you with that as it varies from omp to comp. You just have to spend time adjusting the file and testing every tweak.

Next gen Intel chip is the Ivy Bridge, but its a ways out. Thats what I'm waiting for before I upgrade. But frankly I can run anything on mine at 2560 x 1600 res and software on full (Crysis, 1&2, FSX, Warthog), so I'm not in a hurry.
