personnaly I think 1.5gb of VRAM is enough for FSX, but I havent tried with some heavy textures airport like OrbX.

You wont see any gain in having FSX on an other drive as your OS. You'll see a difference in load time/pup-up if FSX is installed on a SSD.
Have you tweak your FSX.cfg so that FSX wont run with the same core as the OS? Might help.

EDIT: and wich GPU has 3gb of vram? confused
if you'll SLI/Xfire 2 GPU that has 1.5gb you'll still have 1.5gb, they don't add to each other, they mirror

You can easily get a GTX 580 with 3GB. http://www.guru3d.com/news/palit-releases-geforce-gtx-580-with-3gb/

Check to see how much video memory you are using with nVidia inspector. If you are using all 1.5 Gb, then get a 3 Gb+ card (GTX 590). 2 x 1.5 Gb cards in SLI won't get you 3GB however, only 1.5 Gb total. IMHO opinion a 4Gz+ OC would do you more good. Practically, you should be able to reach anywhere between ~4.5 and roughly 5 GHz on air cooling vs your stock 3.4 Ghz.

Okay, Icarus. I need your expert guidance. You're obviously a technical whiz and I'm not at all. What is "nVidia inspector?" Do I have it with my current video card (GTX 285)? Do I download it from somewhere?

Plainsman,

You are a funny guy. The good news is for you that I'm certainly no computer whiz either LOL. But I have Google and I use it often.

I found nVidiaInspector by Googling "monitor video memory" If you Google nVidiainspector it will send you here: http://www.geeks3d.com/20110305/nvidia-inspector-1-9-5-5-available/ Enjoy the free software.

PS If you like Spitfires, A2A's Wings of Power 3 Spit with AccuSim addon is very very good.

Damn Icarus! That Spit looks way better than the one in IL2 COD. WAY BETTER!!! Thanks for the info re nVidia inspector

Downloaded. Now how do I measure the ram usage by a game (like FSX)? I can't be in-game on view the meter at the same time, correct?
