I was up playing this into the late hours as well, it is a pretty PG on steroids.

Polished, fun and addicting :-)

Yeah I never played PG2 but Panzer Commander Corps definitely has me addicted like back in the PG1 days.

While at work today I kept thinking of how I am going to attack the mountain city in my current scenario should I use mountain troops or use parachute troops, fun options like that.

The hard part for me was forking over $39 for what is an enhancement of a classic game, but once I figured out that this is exactly the game most PG fans like me have always hoped for, a great game updated to today's standard, so I ordered it, and I don't regret it one bit, having lots of fun, and if I can build up the skills a bit I may try some PBEM which seems really well done.

For another opinion of past PG fan (and reviewer I trust) see this:
http://www.quartertothree.com/fp/2011/07...game-from-1994/

PS. I am not a hardcore wargamer, COH, TotalWar etc. are my typical games so Panzer Commander Corps is just up my alley (like PG1), though I am hoping this will be a gateway game to get me into more hardcore wargames like TOW2, CMBN etc.

Edit Reason: Sorry confused Panzer Corps with Commander

You can tell a lot of love went into the game. But, does it have dialogue for the briefings?

Cool PanzerCorps comes with a map editor but it also looks like custom units are easy as well, someone has already made a custom Flame Panzer

There should be some awesome mod possibilities there.

PG was my entry into wargaming. I'm not hardcore either, but moved on to Steel Panthers and Combat Mission (and Shock Force, CMBN). D\L Panzer Corps the day it was released and I too am hooked again. PG was such a perfect game, it's great to see that Slitherine actually improved it in every way while keeping the PG 'magic' intact.

Panzer Corps is good. Playing on medium difficulty and the AI seems very good so far. Game v1.00 is rock solid and very enjoyable. Definitely a descendant of the SSI 5 star series with many refinements and the UI is absolutely perfect.

Same here... I still have fond memories of my SP 88mm anti-tank gun ambushes I used to setup.

I've seen the desire for a new version mentioned on the Slitherine PzCorps publisher forum, who knows maybe there's hope:

We already own the rights to the Steel Panthers mega campaigns and all the source so it's something we can look in to if there is a demand and a clear idea what it the game would be!

For now PzCorps is great and keeping me busy.
