Tonight the Sahrani Campaign moves forward with mission #8 from fatty. A preview is available here. This mission takes us into new territory, both in terms of ArmA2 technology, and on the battlefield. The first strike to capture Corazol, a key city that controls access to the entire southern half of the island. See you there!

I wish I could join you there If I may - Europeans who don't want to or can't stay up till the wee small hours to join MM might like to head over to the Project Reality evening on the [RIP] public servers. One will run basic training and the other will run TvT and it's all casual fun. Start at 20:00 BST http://www.realitymod.com/Thanks adlabs. FH PS - its the last one this evening, so don't miss out.

BTW Dogsbd, I read your mention of your comms not working right? Are you able to listen and speak on TeamSpeak 3?

BTW Dogsbd, I read your mention of your comms not working right? Are you able to listen and speak on TeamSpeak 3? I think TS3 is still working, I'd have to test it. But evidently my ArmA VON wasn't working yesterday.

Focus on getting your TS3 working. At least so you can listen. Without that, you can't really participate properly.
The VON, it's used for the lower traffic team level comms for the most part. This is often handled with "Group" text chat when there's a problem with a player's VON.
One big point to look out for, is making sure that your TS3 push-to-talk (PTT) button is different from your ArmA2 (PTT) button. That creates big, immediate trouble mid game.

Pretty good turnout tonight. After waiting an hour for you guys to wrap up Campaign Mission #8, I quickly found myself in the lead spot when Enven was killed during Reprisal. I noticed that a few players left and never came back during that mission, but I don't see how much faster I could have been considering the mission I inherited. If it took too long I apologize, but I really think it's just the nature of that mission in particular.
Anyway, Gator and I had a blast as Sierra during The Road to Neuburg. And it's good to see that the time BEANS and I spend in vehicles is put to good use, I don't think he can spend any time in a vehicle now w/o usin' the vehicle itself as a weapon.
No screens or video from tonight. The spectator script for Campaign Mission #8 was FUBAR, and both Reprisal and The Road to Neuburg have already been documented. Maybe next week...

Campaign Mission #8 Completed
Special thanks to fatty for that mission. Really good fun.
fatty, too bad you didn't get to stick around to play your Road to Neuburg request. It was a bit shaky for a while there, but we pulled it together for a win.
Good times everyone, see you next week!

aye was fun, loved the campaign mission, great being a sniper AND haveing decent vis AND haveing enough ammo ... plus the almost jumping on tank emplacements then landing outside a mil base, just to have a tank drive and stop right up behind you made things intresting!

I don't know what went wrong with the assault on Corazol mission, but I CTD'd twice (the first time cost me my AT round, too) and after that I had to go soon anyway so I wasn't going to waste another 5 mins reconnecting just to MAYBE get a chance to fire before I CTD'd again. No idea what the issue was, I had no problems on the previous missions there, I'd just get a freeze with tons of HD access that lasted like 30 seconds followed by "Arma2oa.exe has died a miserable death, screaming and crying for its mommy".

Enjoyed all of the missions last night. Sometimes I wish the AI was just a bit more clever, though! They really have no idea what to do when faced with armor other than lie down and wait to be crunched, and that Russian group that ran across the street in Corazol just kept going while we mowed them down -- I don't think they fired a single shot in defense, even if it was a total ambush. Adding and sync'ing the Surrender module can potentially help with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHQqCrDVMQQYou can see them run for the hills once they're fully aware of the armor threat. Also can add to realism, in my opinion, since not every seizure of a position will necessarily need to end with killing every last man. Just some food for thought; not 100% sure what all it changes/touches in the AI behavior.

I'm not certain what all that C-130 script does. Next week it'll be a traditional type mission build (no special script elements), in the exact same area, as Wepps' Campaign mission #9 continues the battle for Corazol.
We'll see how everyone handles it.

Maybe I can make it next time, when 2000 rolled around last evening I had a crushing headache.
