I know that most of you couldn't give a tinkers cuss for this game but back in 2002 the original Planetside absolutely rocked my world.

With literally hundreds of players fighting on a permanant virtual world and every plane, tank and car being operated by a real person it was just awesome in it's scale.

I also know that most of us have become jaded with faux sci fi FPS hokum (i'm looking at you HALO!) but if this sequel is half the game of the original it is going to absolutely rule. It is a MMOFPS so it is pay per month but this is worth it for the permanant world and teamwork built by good working squads and battalions that you play with regularly.

the art style doesn't appeal to me. with fantasy and scifi games, if it can't be realistic, there's no reason to go completely opposite into cartoon land.

blacklight, despite having never played the game, has great scifi designs.

If you can get past the pay portion, the bolded statement is why it's worth it. The EA Battlefield series has produced some great online battles, but nothing compares to (literally) hundreds fighting over a base. Base takeovers can take all day. No one person can "capture" a base. It requires certain classes to work together. Looking forward to this one.

Something for anyone else interested in this (although the lack of response leads me to think no love for this one) the game is now Free to Play with an optional subscription model.. It looks like Sony are expanding their Everquest 2 F2P model for a launch MMO for the 1st time..

Hopefully it won't detract me from my initial impressions of the gameplay, art style and general feel of the game which at the moment I am entirely satisfied with.

No m8.. as far as i am aware there have been none sent out so far. I have a few friends who were playing PS right up until recently and they have had nothing either.

I signed up for the beta, looks like a fun game. I never played the first one but after reading about it seems like something I would have enjoyed.

I am looking for a favour.. Can someone take a look at Aprils PC Gamer in the US and try to fathom out whether if i can get a copy of the US version i would be able to use the beta key to join the beta or is it locked to US only..

I am desperate to gt on this beta and if it is possible to get a key from this mag then i'll figure something out.

I played Planetside back in the day with Phoenix Legion, I hope SimHQ gets a good following, I loved that game.

Signed up for the beta on this as well. Don't care for the setting or the artwork, but I've been waiting for another online game that actually allows your actions to change the state of the war/world. Haven't really gotten that out of any MMOs I've played since WWII Online and Shadowbane...

When I saw this trailer I though this was a ArmA3 trailer, maybe was because the weapons are very similar! hahahhahahahahhaha

Massive Air Combat

I love the air combat and the night combat vids.. the game is really moving on apace now.

I am a little disappointed that we have no confirmed date for Beta as yet.. They seem to have released a lot of info, thus building excitement (in me at least) but then stalled the beta.

I was under the impression that beta was looking to be April/May time but still no info on it. Hopefully at E3 they will announce the date.

This is still, by some margin, my most anticipated game of the past few years. The original was really that good.. for it's time and everything i see about PS2 makes me think they are doing the right things with it.
