Gonna give these old bones a try, at least at the practice session Wednesday night for starters....I'd like the #5 Williams.

These things are fun. But so very hard to push hard. No power at low revs and way to much at high revs. smile

Thanks, Christian. I just started playing with the setup and now have some thing to compare with.
Don't remember exactly what it was before, but it looks like the tire wear is higher with your setup.
At this rate we will need many stops. Or the XD plugin isn't showing the right info.
I will try to give some better feedback today.

That is one of the points why it is even more important to adjust the gearing with these cars.

I also emphasised this in the readme. But the gearing should be adjusted to the individual driving style and I am rather wary to 'dictate' this in a base setup.

Personally I'd advise to lower the first gear as low as possible, but that is my very own preferrence.

Regarding the tyre wear, yes - the wear is possibly higher than with your setup. With some tweaks to the configuration it is possible to get through with one pitstop, and when I did full 67 laps I rode the front left tyre down to 20% when using medium tyres. Btw, I don't use the XD-plugin, but rfdynhud.

The car was adjusted then to (out of my head, as I don't have access to the files now)

- wings set to 15 on front and rear
- completely removed the anti-rollbars
- height to 6 (front) and 9 cms (back). It is possible to get lower if the chassis is stiffened (bumpers and rebound at back set to 5, front at 6, increased packers)

I've also experimented with camber and caster to get more grip, however, the car strangely became more unstable then. To be more precise, its behaviour stayed honest until a certain point, but then (less progressively, more abruptly) it developed a less pleasant attitude. Of course, in the least appropriate sections where you can hardly spin without kissing the armco.
Which resulted in me -> cuss2

Admittedly I provided a basic setup also with the intention that I want to encourage every participant to think about setups and to encourage own solutions. I mean, last year I was still a setup-challenged person and still haven't fully understood all aspects of it. There are persons, who create better setups than mine, but I am certainly not so challenged anymore as last year and found out it isn't black magic. Using a tool like rfdynhud helped me a lot with that as well, along with the numerous setup links in the references here.

What really got me interested is the fact that I could quite open drive setups from some members, but had a hard time trying setups from other persons. Quite obviously driving styles and skills are different and this also reflects in setups and the preferrences there. E.g., do I need more raw speed, or do I need to trade some speed for more stability and end up technically faster?

So a "one-size-fits-all" setup can imho only be a base setup. And if anyone wants a hint or some input please feel free to PM me, ok? smile

What, Caana??? No Minardi this time? Giancarlo Minardi was already pretty unhappy that I fled ship, and now you dare to go to his archrival Osella? wink

Seriously, there is only one Osella car, there were just two different drivers back then in 1985 who got to drive this shi..., err, racing car.
