You sit out the long loading time, you do a complete ramp start, you set up your weapons, off you go and then _this_ happens...

Just as annoying as when you complete a mission and that happens when you want to rearm/refuel just to finish mopping up. Some Airfields are very tight, once clipped my wing on a bunker whilst taxiing to the ramp - end of mission!!

You can still take off butt but your privates might hang out for the rest of the flight.

The trick I think is not to stop. Once you stop, you sink, and that's it. If you find yourself going to dirt, stay calm, throttle up a bit to keep speed, and make your way back to pavement.

@Blackbird, That's realism for ya bro. sigh Kinda brings me to the adage, "be careful what you wish for..." Seriously, tho I've been there a couple times. My biggest frustrations were actually blowing the tires on takeoff. It kinda makes you understand how real pilots feel when they are prepped for a mission and have to abort due to a mechanical failure or some other issue. SUX!!! Still, those are the little details that make the sim a cut above. That said, don't let that setback get you down. As soon as your crew chief gives you a green light get that baby in the air.

See you in Pig Air.

hehehe been there done that.

Although I admit, I was having so much fun doing the ramp start, I didn't mind doing it all over again.

Seems counter-intuitive at first. You see yourself going into grass an you think to stop whereas the correct thing to do is to increase engine RPM to maintain speed when off-road.
