What was that ghost dark area on the strut anyway?
And where is Jim? On sudden vacation?

May I have the privilege to test it? WinkNGrin

I'm not sure what happened with the dark V-strut. I didn't put it there but I managed to find it and get rid of it. smile

I'll package together a skin for ya to test her out. I've also changed something else...sure you'll discover in no time. Actually can't believe it hadn't been pointed out before. biggrin

I think our little Johannisthal project may be close to an end. I know I won't complain if it is. wink

Thanks so much! Can't wait to test...

Something that comes in mind, that I've seen but never spoken of, in sakes of compatibility between types, is that the rudder inner structure frames are more horizontal in D.III, than in the D.III OAW that have a light upright angle...
Is it something else too?

You'll see. wink

I'm sending you Schaefer's early machine. I've redone it to represent the true aircraft based on photos from Jim. Also MvR's all-red Albie is attached. Just place the folder in your data folder.

Please...post screens and let me know what you think. wink

Check PM.

Hey, guys,

Not on vacation, just chin-deep in airfield and DIII research (not associated with flight sims). Oh, okay, I've also been checking out the Biff and I flew a mission in my Eindecker career; love that thing.

Everything is looking great! Never thought you could change the panel lines but you pulled it off. My rivet-counting constructive suggestion would be to move the Nicht auftreten stencil rearward a bit.

Also, the wheel covers are still the OAW type, with the round/oval valve access covers. The Johannisthal versions were rectangular:

I know, really cutting hairs with these suggestions.

Yeah, Elephant, we can't get the MG chute cover, central radiator (for those that had it) and correct engine in this thing but man you guys have gotten it close! cheers

Hey,

The Dr.I comes to mind, especially its rudder. I split hairs about the Albs because I study them so much.

As for the rudder/elevators/ailerons...I've smoothened them out as much as possible. What we see now is the 3D model. From certain angles it is very smooth but when light is directed on hem you can see the frame noticeably.

Think its one thing we're gonna have to live with. frown
