The FLIR isn't the only problem with this - 640x480 per screen makes the MDI displays downright horrendous.
Each to his own, and I certainly game in triplehead whenever I can, but I think this is only good for flying around in JF-18. As soon as you really start to go about the tasks of completing a mission and you are heads down in the radar or SMS MDI pages, it really gets to you.
Now, with the... shall we say.. recent acquisition of material, perhaps this situation can ultimately be improved.
I will try gaming like this and see. I just had to see what F-18 looked like in a triple screen environment..
Basically when Ii used the non wideview pit I can see the MDI's clear as day?? Even in the wideview pit looks kinda the same as the 1 screen wideview pit perhaps a bit better in triple screens..perhaps the larger screen helps???
I would ask more of your recenlty acquisition of material but I would just ask that you do something with the FLIR in the Triplescreen view so it does not zoom in like it does to ruin the wideview shot..
Also running the game in Triplehead at a higher rez would be good too but I guess there is NO Way around that limitation of DX7

Funny thing is in TAW I can set the triplescreen rez to 3072x768 with the Glide wrapper so there has to be SOME sort of way around that limitation..
