Post some of your flight sim mishaps. Mine just happen to be from IL-2 The perils of target fixation. I still didn't get the Hurricane I had lined up on either !!! I may need to work on turning the aircraft around without tipping it on its nose. Wheels

Thanks, I was flying on the Online4Summer map so the clouds were below the height of the mountains. I had just crested one and was chasing the Hurricane to the valley when I got tagged from my 6. I took one last shot at the Hurricane before I bailed out. The you are seriously wounded message made up my mind to give up the ghost and bail. Considering how often .trk files don't work properly I was happy to get the shot I wanted during playback. I forgot to re-set the video options to Perfect though. Wheels

The unfortunate result of target fixation.. Did not notice how low I was getting until I caught my undercarriage on the copse of trees behind my plane and went for a ride.

Some old mishaps from me: Problems with my traffic generator in FS9. The first time this happened scared the hell out of me as it passed. If bad weather and low visibility weren't enough, there is also a tree to contend with. New to the game and just ejected from a Black Shark I watched with interest to see if they had modelled a chute tangling with these cables... I never found out because the chute did not hit a cable at all and floated at a slight diagonal through and clearing them all. My old computer had some issues with the PMDG screenies sometimes. At the time I never saw this coming and suddenly found myself at the centre of a dissipating orange glow. A rewind revealed the cause. I was totally baffled when I got the friendly kill message in this. Again, a rewind revealed an interesting strike of bad luck. From another angle: Looking forward to many more in COD, heheh.

You are right Boilerplate, I don't recognize some of those sims. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Here is my latest. I'll bet they wish they hadn't hit me. The B-17 tail gunner shot me but my plane continued flying and flew into the B-17. That fireball between the two Japanese plane wings in front of the B-17 is what's left of my rapidly disintegrating Zero. Wheels

Mapped the wrong key on my PC Dash2, instead of "lower prop pitch", it was mapped to "set taxi condition". Whith set power to climb, this results into burning engines immediately in the Jetstar.

Some of Boilerplate's screen shots are of Janes WW2 Fighters! I've still got that on the hard drive, I might fire it up. I even have some mods on CD I bought a long while back...

Give that man a Cuban! There are still a few out there playing it. But it's been over 4 years since the last time I fired it up. The add-ons made a big difference. The mission builder was pretty good too. Sadly after all these years, the Jane's WW2 Fighters website will be closing at the end 2011. You might want to scramble over there before they draw the curtains. www.ww2fighters.orgAnd here's a little known secret: http://www.simplyhifi.com.au/AWPUpdates.htm

You picked the short runway there... I may need to work on turning the aircraft around without tipping it on its nose You're in good company actually. More BF-109's were lost to ground handling problems than to enemy fire.

There needs to be a wingman command for "Stay away from me you idiot!" I've lost count of the number of times my useless wingman has crashed into me. Of course he ejected with lightning reflexes, while I flipped upside down and ejected straight into the ground.

It seems no matter the sim the AI always find a way to crash into you. From the looks of that screenshot the AI pilot came very close to ejecting into you. He was almost too fast on the ejection handle.

Wheels Yep, I wasn't able to use the speed breaks while attempting to slow down. If I did only one would deploy. So I attempted to set her down while going faster than I should have, botched it up and it ended up as a burning mass in the middle of the runway.

Those are killers. You nurse your crippled plane home and instead of bailing out like you know you should you try to land and end up a smoking crater. Normally those are the missions that I did a great job, right up until the end...

It's the ultimate insult to injury when you get shot down by hello kitty though That would add insult to injury. Wheels

Cannon did the skin. I just distributed it. I have fun with it offline. I would never take it online since I can't fly worth a hoot. Now if I was "all that" I might be mischievous enough to try it. I've seen another Hello Kitty skin and I used to have it for the Go-229. I saw it in a skin contest thread at Good Old Games a couple of years ago. Wheels Edit: Lol, I forgot it won the contest. Go-229 Hello Kitty: http://static03.gog.com/upload/forum/2009/03/f408823c4201ec6aae574fcb9f0b40a2ad147097.JPGSource: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/il_2_sturmovik_1946_plane_skin_contest_update/post1If you're a combat simulation veteran and you have design skills then this contest is made for you. In the IL-2 Sturmovik™: 1946 game folder you'll find skins for all planes available in the game (default path is /Program Files/GOG.com/IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/PaintSchemes/Skins). Your task is to create your own skin for the plane of your choice and send it to users@gog.com by Thursday, April 2 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The best skin will be chosen by GOG.com's Design Team and the author of this masterpiece will be awarded with a free game from GOG.com's catalogue. We'll announce the lucky winner in the community update news on Saturday, April 4. You have to own the game on GOG.com to enter the contest. Good luck and don't forget to make a copy of the original skin . EDIT: Saturday has come and that means we have to pick a winner. And that winner is... ElPixelIlustre, with just a little bit of help from his girlfriend. If you read through the entire thread you will see that ElPixelIlustre changed his username to Andresito_epi. Here is a link to the 4 skins that he uploaded to imageshack. Only one of them is a Hello Kitty skin.
Edited by wheelsup_cavu (10/25/11 02:45 AM) Edit Reason: I found the thread at GoG.

Flak was a little more accurate than I expected... I am going to have to tone it down some for anyone to have a chance to survive the mission. Wheels
