I started a new RoF Campaign after some time with the Official Career Mode.
Bloody April with Jasta 11, testing the new fabulous skinpack by Graf.
It feels great to fly among the aces!
I have two remarks to make...
1) The loading time,(Mods on), was significantly shorter than in Official Career Mode, (a couple of minutes average, while in OCM is 7 minutes average).
2) There are many unnecessary flights around, that I was experiencing slowdowns from time to time...
Is it possible to implement the new spawning system the official Career uses?
And a tiny petition more...
Is it possible when another flight of your squadron is along in the air with the player's flight,
that RoF Campaign can identify and display in icons the names of the other flight pilots as well as with the player's one?

First victory!

Battered, but safe!

Hi elephant,

Pat mentioned earlier that he could not implement the spawn system for whatever reason. Things may change, who knows.
I personally like that flights are actually flying missions rather than spawned, but do know there are pros and cons to performance and game play.

You could always edit your mission generator to reduce the distance of "junk flights", works for me...

I'm not sure what the new career mode does. I don't really want to spawn planes at fixed or even random locations.

What Red Baron did back in the day was actually brilliant. The planes flew their missions but were not rendered until visible. While flying out of sight they used a simplified pathing AI that took almopst no time. Once visible they were fully rendered and used full AI.

But if I can do somthing to improve performance I will. Needs looking into.

Like you said on this one Red Baron did it great in all aspects and i think every flight simlation should have such depth in the campaign like RB with those leather maps and old papers, drawn pictures of your squadron-mates where you can see every detail you need to feel like the WW1 and your jasta are really there. I didnt purchased any of ROF version yet while first i have to upgrade my computer, but read all 93 pages and i believe you have done a great job Patrick. Played probably most of WW1 and WW2 flight simulations (i rather wont mention my age hehehe) and ROF looks like decent follower of RB and i believe that much time would be spared if 777 would just buy the rights for RB from Dynamix (or OtterGames)and just copy the campaign while it was 30 years in front of time. (IL2 with stuning graphic just didnt do me any joy when I wanted to know who my mates are and see how poorly they are introduced)So all my best for developers and you Patrick
Hope i will soon joy you in the sky and as a hobby-historian for WW1 air war i can also provide any accurate dates if you need them

It is compatible.
You must have the latest version of Java installed, before installing RoF Campaign.
I guess you forgot to install it, after upgrading to W7... biggrin

Thankyou Pat!.. just got this going again after my re-install, and was glad to find I could actualy start a 19 Sqn campaign in Feb 1918 when they first got their Dolphins, and at the correct airfield.. something that I can't do in the games career at the moment. thumbsup
Great stuff..

I was having a blast with my latest, "Bloody April", Jasta 11 Campaign, till the Jasta moved to the legendary airfield of Roucourt...
I started my first mission there merged with a hangar, while the rest of the flight was facing backwards to the tents... mad
Something has to be done with the airfield spawning points! sigh
Any plans implementing the Biff?
