Is there a method(setting) in G-Mail that will allow me to automatically mark messages as read or unread in my Inbox ? I know I can mark messages as "read" by clicking on a drop down menu and the message field turns yellow, but there has to be a way for me to have G-MAIL do this automatically(in other words-tag the messages I have read, so I don't have to do it manually every time).Thanks

If you actually read the message (click on it) it should be marked as read automatically. If you want some messages to automatically be marked as read, without you having to read them, you can do that with filters (eg, automatically mark all messages from jdoe@email.com as read when they're received).
