I'm posting this here cause I'm not getting a definitive response in the VRS TAC PACK thread. Yesterday, in a spending spree, I picked up F/A-18E Superbug for FSX. I did it only in anticipation of possible future interest in VRS TacPack, when it is ready. And because it was only 29.99 U.S. But I forgot to investigate whether Superbug is compatible with DX10 preview. If I open the box, I can't take it back. I couldn't find anything on the Internet, and nothing on the box talks about it. So I'm looking for someone, anyone, who has Superbug for FSX to tell me if it is compatible with DX10 preview. That's all.

They should start stating this on the box for godsake! I wont buy anything that isn't DX10 compatible. Don't these people want to make sales or something?

http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlYou need freeware version. There are many advanced planes (especially tubeliners) that need FSUIPC. Just run 'Install FSUIPC4.exe' from the zip archive. You don't need payware licence. It will create FSX/Modules folder (if you don't have one) and install FSUIPC4.dll there. This is the module required by SuperBug.

Okay, I got the FSUPIC 4 installed. I start up FSX I select one of the Superbugs. I'm sitting in the cockpit. But the MFDs all say something like "no activated must go through ACM" And the external view is a can of spam. No plane. I gigantic can of Spam! What kind of crap is this? I registered with the license ID and password. What the hell is an ACM? There is another hoop I have to jump through?
And the VRS website won't let you post a message if you bought a boxed version of Superbug from a North American store. How racist is that? I can read posts, but I can't create a message to ask for help? Why are they selling boxed versions in stores like Best Buy (where I bought mine) if you're going to penalize buyers? OMG!
Does anybody know what this ACM thing is and how I can find it to turn this thing on? Thanks.

ACM is a configuration program in Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\VRS_FA-18E\ACM\VRS ACM X.exe
Forums support is for for download version only, because that version is much more expensive than boxed ($44.95 - you pay more, and you have forums support). You can still get support via email.
Oh, before someone think anything - I don't work for VRS, and I don't know them, I'm just a customer, very satisfied to be honest.

Oh, before someone think anything - I don't work for VRS, and I don't know them, I'm just a customer, very satisfied to be honest. Thanks empeck. I finally got this thing to work. Took me 8 tries with the ACM (I figured out was Aircraft Configuration Manager) to figure it out. I still don't know what I did to get it to work. This add-on is a major pain in the azz. Secondly, just because I paid $29.99 instead of $44.95 is not my fault. That was the price on the box. Why sell the game through retailers if you're going penalize retail buyers? That might be legal but it isn't ethical, and it makes me question these VRS people and their trustworthiness. If they want everyone to buy for $44.95 then make it download only from their website. That's very simple and honest. But no. They want to use third party channels but will penalize you if you happen to buy it from a retailer. OMG. Very unethical. Treat all legitimate buyers the same. I didn't even know there was a download and that it was much more expensive and gave different level of support! Don't know if I'll buy their upcoming TacPack now because of their unethical practices.
Anyway, here are some screenshots taken of the Superbug. It's very hardcore, more than the DCS sims or Falcon 4.0. I could barely get this thing off the runway before crashing into a housing development in Los Angeles. Three times. But like I said, a pain in the azz to get going. And I don't think it likes my FF G940. I refuse to turn off my FF. That's ridiculous. What kind of crap is this software? Who makes a sim today without FF? I don't think that's what caused me to crash anyway. This sim add-on is just very hardcore. So no pics of my jet in the sky. I can fly DCS and ROF in full sim modes, but not this thing. Where's the "easy" setting?

Looks good. Very good humor, Scylla. Thank you. Yes, this thing makes DCS, Falcon, and Janes F/A 18 all seem like Strike Fighters. This will not appeal to the casual audience flying FSX, only the hardest of the hardcore. It doesn't seem to be scalable. Kind of like when Grand Prix Legends first came out. It's uncompromising. So are the graphics. This is medium setting. This add-on has a graphics setting that will bring a 2600K to it's knees. It's good for those who want to watch a PowerPoint Presentation of a F/A taking off. Slide by slide. The hardcore DCS A-10 crowd with their Thrustmaster Warthogs should take a crack at this thing.

Flying the FA-18E Superbug, is a lot easier to fly than other Jet for FSX. With its fly-by-wire it is very stable in flight and if you fly too slow it will automatically lower flaps to maintain flight envelope. It can almost recover from a stall by itself, if you have enough altitude and give it full power. I have crashed a lot of Jets in FSX by not being able to recover from a stall, even with a lot of altitude. I have only crashed the F/A-18 Superbug once, and that was because my altitude was too low when it stalled. I stalled the jet in a high G turn at 1000 feet. FA-18E Superbug is my favorite combat jet to fly. With its powerful engines and stable flight I was able to land on the USS Nimitz Carrier on my third try. The manual is important to read and is found under the VRS FA-18E folder in FSX Simobjects under documentation. The manual will help you set up the avionics so that you can lock up another jet and then shoot one or all of your missiles at it. By the way, the jet engine sound is very impressive. The other day I turned the volumn way up on my 5.1 sound system with a 100 watt bass and my wife thought a jet was flying low over the house. Wired
