Haven't built in a long time, but I remember not all kits are created equal. I like quality kits that actually fit together nicely, I recall Tamiya was good but their F-16 kits I have found are very expensive. Looking for 1/48 or 1/72, I have some decals from my Reserve Wing I found and am looking to build one of our jets;)

If anyone can recommend something I would appreciate it.

Agree totally with Troll about the Tamiya and Kinetic kits. It's really going to come down to what version and block F-16 you need for those ANG decals. I have always wanted to do a 1/48th F-16A Block 15 ADF in the livery of the North Dakota 119th ANG "Happy Hooligans ". I have the decals but no one makes the F-16A Block 15 ADF varient right now (Revell did at one time, but it's pretty crude by todays standards). So I have to do some kit bashing using Academys F-16A/C as my base, Hasegawas F-16A kit and even some parts from the Revell F-16A ADF kit (Italeri also has a F-16A Block 15 kit). I could have saved a lot of time with Cutting Edges F-16A ADF resin coversion kit (works for the Academy/Hasegawa/Italeri kits) but unfortunately it's OOP. I just about ready to roll on this kit but knowing my luck as soon as I start someone (probably Kinetic) will release an F-16A ADF hahaha Also try to find a good F-16 reference book on the F-16 varient you want to replicate, the F-16 has undergone many Block changes since it was first rolled out. I thought the P-47 & P-51 were bad with the block varients, they pale in comparission to the F-16 dizzy

Tamiya kits are spendy, but there's no question as to their quality. Hasegawa makes some good ones.

I remember a Hasegawa F-16 with Verlinden Productions update set was the perfect combination. The kit just fell together.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

What everyone here said is true about the Tamiya/Hasegawa/Kinetic F-16 kits. But like ScoutsOut stated he wants to use decals he has from a specific ANG wing, this can present several problems depending on what F-16 varient the ANG wing was using at that time in relation to the markings he wants to use. Like me if he is doing an ADF varient he cannot just use the Tamiya kit, he is going to have to kitbash a couple different F-16 kits to get a fairly accurate F-16 ADF. I ran into this same problem years back with an aircraft in relation to decals when I wanted to do a F4B Phantom from VF-84 on the USS Independence (cira 1965) in 1/32nd scale. Tamiya had just released the USAF F4B/C and while it was close, it was no cigar. Spent quite a bit on after market resin and such to get it fairly right. But thats one of the challanges with locking into a specific aircraft decal option, the kit you need simply may not exist in that varient, and thats where the real fun begins hahaha
cheers
