Greenwood has been outstanding in everything that I've seen him in so far.

As for who else I would have cast as Chekov, that's a pretty tough question!

I can't think of any specific actors right now but I just know there has to be some actors out there who look a lot more like the original Chekov and can do a better Russian accent. smile

I don't know that appearance is really important. After all, Pegg looked nothing like Doohan, Saldana sure doesn't look like Nichols, and Cho doesn't look like Takei.

As for accent, it's funny that you mention it since his is real, albeit overly thick.
"He was born Anton Viktorovich Yelchin on March 11, 1989, in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), Russia, Soviet Union. His father, Viktor Yelchin, and his mother, Irina, were a successful pair of professional figure-skaters in Leningrad, and his grandfather was also a professional sportsman, a soccer player. "
Walter Koenig was of Lithuanian/Jewish descent, hence his original name Koenigsberg.

Ah, fascinating. The same as the former capital of East Prussia which of course is now known as Kaliningrad.

Karl Urban nearly stole the whole film. Brilliant casting on him as McCoy.

I am a Star Trek 'lifer' so I was pretty scared when they did the re-boot, but I think it was excellent.

+1 - loved the reboot, and was expecting the worse.
