Nats, i think i know what is the problem.
look into your catalyst control centre and under 3d application settings check your mipmap detail level, it should
be at Quality, if it is down at performance you get issues like you have, happened to me once.
Yes you are correct thank you for that. Not so much for FSX as I like the DX10 anyway but more for Rise of Flight which was looking horrid and I didn't know why - then when I saw your post it clicked that a few days ago I changed these graphics cards settings to try to get more speed out of RoF but I didn't realise it made the textures look so terrible. I am sure that FSX will be fine now in DX9 as well although I haven't tried it. I actually like flying around the scenery in FSX more than trying different planes so DX10 not being compatible isn't too much of an issue for me.
But its a shame MS couldnt be bothered to correct the FSX deficiencies before they started work on MS Flight. I am doubtful whether I will be buying the new title considering how they left FSX so unfinished. Apart from the fact I have my doubts as to how realistic it actually will be - nice graphical screenshots mean nothing. Several games licences have been completely ruined lately by dumbing them down to widen the audience (Silent Hunter 5 for one). And if they are making an internet accessible game that may mean a constant internet access is required to play - another reason I wouldn't buy it.
