Hey fella pilots:
Ok, I bought X Plane just for one add on. CF-104. Once I began delving into XP, I realized the aircraft that were in it and now the fun and frustration has begun.

My first gripe is TIR support. I have the latest TIR and cannot get it to work in X Plane 9.

I then patched X Plane to the latest patch from thier website. The game crashed. I had to use the game's "fix me" utility to restore the game. This is a great feature that I found by accident. Just reinsert the DVD and chose from reinstall, fix, ect. It took about 5 minutes to fix the program.

Lastly, I cannot figure out where the CF-104 installs. I pointed the install at the right place but no cigar... Where is it? Uhmmmm???

Any ideas that dont involve painfull death are welcome. I have considered leaping from the roof :-)

Have a great day pilots

Maico

Hmm...my F-104 went into a folder under Aircraft/ClassicJetSimulations - try clicking to that directory within X-Plane?

Regarding X-Plane and Track IR - you have selected the TrackIR box in the configuration menu correct? Now - CTRL-O is the 3D cockpit..it won't work unless you are in that "mode". Just the straight forward view (W) won't let it run..

Give that a shot..

Thanks Beach:
Your help is much appreciated. Where is this Configuration Menu? It cant be as easy as check a box and go to 3D cockpit... I guess it is.

I figured out why my 104 add on does not work. I cant update X Plane to the latest patch. Every time I update to the latest patch the game will not start. I then have to use the ingame repair utility and this removes the patch. Then the game starts but it cannot run CF-104.
My enthusiasm is also curbed by the fact that the scenery does not look very nice.

I had high hopes for this sim but I am quickly loosing faith.

I had similar experience with x-plane, after patching it would error while loading, the guys on the xplane forum instructed me to delete the cache folder, I can't remember exactly but after doing that the game would load with the latest patch. So I'd suggest looking into that. Not sure why you have to do this manually...

I never did get the trackir working either, for something thats fairly straight forward on all my other sims it was frustrating in x-plane.

Don't want to bash it to much, but x-plane 9 is too clunky for me, I'll take a another look when x-plane 10 comes out.

Got it working. 9.70 did the trick. Thanks Beach! Also a shout out to Greg Hoffer. The inventor of the CF-104 add on. He answers questions and supports the product like a first rate buisnesman. Its great fun and one of the best pits ever!
With TIR, the CF-104 and X Plane I am having some fun.

Thanks all!
