I'm using an iPhone 3GS that's about 1.5 yrs old now. Of late it's been acting up - randomly crashing when I'm in the midt of usinag an app (not notably, using Google maps). Now today all apps I've installed over the last 18 months appear to be having the equivalent of CTD whenever I start one - intro screen shows briefly then it goes back to desktop, as it were.
Any ideas what I should do?

Guy from ATT store told me I was screwed with updated Iphone 3 after the most recent update. He said it would always be slow now, unless I reverted to old version which as he stated "Is a nightmare." You can try updating apps via appstore. I went and ordered a iphone 4 refurb for $99 and it's awesome.

By the way, if you have ATT and your signal at home stinks, they have an in home booster they give away now. Plugged it into my router and I get 5 bars in the house now.

Lobber - not from US, so my service provider is not ATT. But thanks anyway. And yes the OS it's using is OS4.
Cajun - yes.

What a pack of aholes, they kill your phone through software updates to help convince you that you need a new phone every 12 months, there is more moral fibre in a bucket of water than a big buisness these days frown no wonder the world is "F.ed"
