That is definitely odd.

Playing the demo, it felt just like Duke with better (albeit not great by today's standards)graphics. I found it to be frustrating, silly in some parts and disappointing. It is as if nothing that has grown in the genre has been crafted into it. Or, maybe I'm just much older now ;-) At least I wouldn't have to screw with the com ports on my modem and spend an hour trying to get dialed up with a friend.

Based on the demo I don't think I'm buying it. Ever. Hopefully the demo isn't indicative of the game.

It looks that way.I did pre-order it,installed the demo and then cancelled the pre-order.

Is pre-ordering easy to cancel? I've never (and won't ever) pre-order games, so I might just do what you said. I really want to at least try the game before I make a decision lol

Duke Nukem 3D was a revolutionary FPS of it's time back in '96. I personally had a blast playing it over the office network with my co-workers after hours.

The “simulation” aspect of shooters has evolved so much over fifteen years that I can’t believe you guys still want to play this dumb game? I guess my problem is that I’m not a gamer.

Yeah,it was easy, here in the UK at least. No more difficult than cancelling any other game I pre-ordered in the past.
I had pre-ordered it through Play.com.
As far as I am aware, you can also cancel a pre-order through Steam.I did it once.

I was after the old feel of the Duke game but alas you can never get that back. When you play the old games that you have fond memories I always end up thinking it wasn't as good as I remember, apart from Doom which I play on Xbox Live arcade and is still fun.

Games like Bulletstorm are the new Duke type of games, daft, silly fun.

You nailed it Mace. The memories are so much better because of what we hadn't seen and experienced later back then when we played.

I'm working my way through it slowly.I'm not the best FPS player so it's taking a while.
Ignoring the so so graphics I am finding it quite entertaining.I also find it quite funny,I did lol a few times.

The 2 gun limit isn't a problem for me,I just have to pick the best 2 for any given situation.
There is lots to see, lots of 'Duke' stuff like the working pool table and pinball machine and the interaction with certain objects.
And then the girls, they are cute, especially the Folsom twins who perform certain 'acts' with you smile

So far the levels seem varied, and the set pieces not too bad either.I like the 'execute' function on stunned enemies.

I will keep on playing it until I either finish it or more than likely I get stuck and just can't continue.
The MP looks dire, had a quick go and that was enough.

Hail to the King!

5.5 ouy of 10...ouch... but I really didn't expect it to be good anyway... just a flashback of gaming history... but as someone else meantioned... you can never go back to the classics and get that same feeling... so, looks like a renter for hose intrested... based on what I've been reading...
