Apache: Air Assault on Yuplay

I waited for this for quite a while!

Coincidentally, I bought another great new flight "sim" yesterday (really, game is more accurate)...

Pilotwings Resort!

Great game if you're a fan of flight-sim-x-style missions. The 3ds's 3d display adds a lot to flight sims games.

It is a nice game, but leans more towards the arcade side than sim side IMO. Still a great game. Flight model is rather detailed and fun enough to just fly. Game runs great, little to no bugs, stable 50 frame rates maxed out, and very fun. Has a basic quick mission maker as well.

I'd highly recommend buying it.

And a full Mission editor downloadable...hopefully can shift it towards the sim side a little.
Will find out next week.

I've been replaying this recently, and it seems like the AI gunner is no longer working. So I tried to set different "times" for the gunner, disabled, 4, 8, 12, ect. be the AI gunner simply does not react anymore.

Unless this bug is fixed, I can not seriously recommend this game anymore...

No wonder flight sims are dying, they're so full of bugs its pathetic.

Installed it this afternoon. Got errors in the patch updates (1.0.0.2 to 1.0.2.0 to 1.0.2.1 ends up corrupted and back at 1.0.0.2) Crashed out to a self reboot when it tried to connect in game to Yuplay.

Just brought it on PC cd last week. Still trying to work it out, as my controls are conflicting a bit. Although the graphics look great, it does seem very arcade orientated. Still I do like it

I'm getting that patch runaround too. I quess it's best to leave it at 1.0.2.0. Otherwise it runs fine but setting up the controls is confusing.

I haven't found any documentation for how to do things.

If you are using Saitek gear, they have a downloadable profile for the game, the hard part is setting it up to the controller (well I am having a hard time doing that). I found there were conflicting commands between the axis mapping and button mapping features (ie sticks commands and button commands for the same thing). I'm still tinkering with the settings and hopefully sorting it soon.

Been playing this a bit and enjoying it for what it is. Have a few questions -

Moving the FLIR camera has a intentional lag when braking that makes it near impossible to use when I have it bound to a Hat switch. I can't nudge the camera, it always overshoots. Is there a preferred way to use it? Another axis? Mouse? Can it be bound to TrackIR?

Is there a way to turn off the red and blue icons that are drawn around targets in the HUD?

I have zoom bound to a a wheel axis but it seems unpredictable. Sometimes wheeling up zooms in, sometimes out, very odd. Is it really meant to be bound to a button, not an axis?

I usually use the mouse for the FLIR camera since it gives me the most accuracy. Scroll wheel for zooming and left button for the cannon.

The joystick X-Y axis will work for this, too, when you're in the DVO/FLIR view.

In the cockpit view the only way I found to look around and aim the cannon is with TrackIR.

The problem I had with using a wheel axis for zoom was that the center point was max zoomed out. Moving the wheel either direction would zoom in. That was a bit disconcerting for me. Using the mouse wheel for zoom works fine but I also have max zoom bound to a buttom on my throttle.

Most of this has just been trial and error for me since there's no documentation. Fortunately it does let you change control settings during missions.

I haven't figured out how to turn off icons yet.

that works much better, as does using the mouse (trackball in my case) for FLIR. thanks.

Has anyone tried the Beta patch? Mission editor? Any chance of modding the game a bit, like changing ranges and lethality of ground weapons?

I feel like this game has a the potential to be a great fun and a bit more authentic-feeling with just a few simple changes to the opfor stats.

I'm using beta patches 1.0.2.0 and 1.0.2.1. I have the editor installed but don't know what to do with it.

I read on their forums that Gaijin is supposed to create a Wiki page for the instructions.

I've just had a look at the yuplay site and it's back up to $35.99, any idea why?
